I realize basketball isn't played on paper, but when I look at the Pelicans back-court rotation, I feel like these guys could be an elite combo.
Eric Gordon is 26 years old. A couple years ago, Gordon was averaging 20/3/3 on this same team. In his final year with the Clippers, most people ranked him as a top 5 SG in the league.
Tyreke Evans is 25 years old. He's a former rookie of the year that averaged 20/5/6 for a season, with career averages of 17/5/5 on 45%. He still can't shoot, but he does a lot of little things on the court.
Jrue Holiday is 24 years old. His last year with Philly he was an All-Star. This season he's averaging 15/4/7 while playing solid defense. Jrue's isn't the kind of guy who can take over a game, but he's become much better at being a game manager.
Now, like I said, I know basketball games aren't played on paper... but we're also not talking about a bunch of veterans either. These guys should just now be entering their primes, and all of them have performed, at one time or another, at an elite level. I think Eric Gordon is the biggest enigma to me. I watched almost every game this guy played with the Clippers, and I thought he was gonna be a great piece to a championship squad. He played solid defense, could shoot the 3 ball, had decent vision, and played fantastic off-the-ball.
