"He can do that with both hands! He's amphibious!"

Hahaha. It was funny 25 years ago. Please die.

The joke is Charles Shackleford said it to a reporter

"Left hand, right hand, it don't matter. I'm amphibious."
Charles Shackleford

I've been saying this to my friends on and off the court for years, it's stupid and it's funny to me because they don't know why the hell I say it

Damon Wayans came up with this?

Johnny, the joke is that the actual word for being able to use both hands is ambidextrous. Amphibians are ectothermic, tetrapod vertebrates of the class amphibia.

Now do you get it?
Yeah, no shiit, I know the proper word for it is ambidextrous.

The point is, the joke has been done to death and its not funny anymore, it was barely funny around 1990 when I first heard it.

That is all.

You're still not getting it. Two weeks from now it'll click and you're gonna laugh your ass off.

OK genius.

Ambidextrous = people who can use both hands equally

Amphibians = frogs, lizards, etc

The words sound somewhat the same, can be confused, and the misuse is supposed to be funny (but is really isn't)

What part am I not getting?

Maybe it's a cultural thing. Is English your first language?

This fool doesn't even know there is a difference between amphibious and amphibian. He still doesn't get it

Amphibious means being able to live on both land and in water. Which is what amphibians do.

Again, what am I not getting?

You don't get it. Ambidextrous is shooting with both hands.

Amphibious is different.

I've never heard this joke before. It's hilarious.

Just because amphibians are amphibious doesn't mean amphibious things are amphibians. The words are not interchangeable as you used them earlier. Meanwhile, ambidextrous has to do with being able to use both hands well. This is probably why you don't get the joke.

You guys are trying too hard.

English is my first language. I "get" the joke. Ambidextrous/amphibious. I get why its supposed to funny. And it was kind of funny the first 100 times I heard it, but its been done to death and is now lame and hackneyed. Which was my original point.

Its the equivalent of someone saying "time for you to get get a watch!" when someone asks for the time. Yeah, maybe that was funny in 1983, but now its trite and lame.

I'm done. :sleeping

You obviously don't get the joke if you think that is the equivalent.

"time for you to get get a watch!" is the comical answer you say when someone asks you ""What time is it"

Its funny because they wanted to know the time of day but you gave them a completely different answer.

NVM this language barrier is to much. You don't understand
