Anyone fan of the movie Fargo?

There's a tv show now, supposedly going along the lines of theme of the movie. Cold countryside Minnesnota, cruel out-of-nowhere crimes happening in a small pleasant neighborhood. Has this lifetime loser guy, who I think we all can painfully relate to...

Just watched the first episode, seemed decent but I don't know what to expect next.

I would put this show on the same tier as greats like Breaking Bad and The Wire. One of the best shows I have ever seen.

That's on path to an overstatement, but fine. Still there might be the second season, y/n?

I don't know yet, but I loved the movie. The police woman here is typical, but the one in the movie was even better.

Just watched the second episode and I'm still hanging. Will be looking forward to continue watching, however.

Watch the whole thing...and THEN judge.. It's a great show, you just can't see the whole spanning arc in a single episode.

I'd say that William H. Macy was a bit above Freeman and the female cop in the movie was a little better than the female cop here, but Billy Bob put things over the top. Hanks is a nice touch too, as are other cameos that I won't spoil.

It was incredibly good.

I was excited for it, but after watching it I still was really shocked just how good it was.

Can't wait for the second season.

It's not better than the movie, but it's great. Billy Bob is actually playing a character from a different Coen Brothers movie.

It's kind of mash-up of different Coen Brothers stuff and not exactly the same as the movie.

BTW, the second season will be a new story with new actors and will be set in 1979 and focus on Molly's father Lou.

Ted Danson, Nick Offerman, Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad) have all been cast for Season 2.

Which character? Only thing I can think of is the guy from No Country for Old Men, but that doesn't fully fit in my mind.

BTW, the Coen Brothers were Executive Producers of the Show but literally had nothing to do with the show at all.

Noah Hawley did an outstanding job creating the Coen Brothers atmosphere though.

I dont think its overstatement at all, in my opinion the show is really that good.

Yes. He definitely is the Anton Chigurh character from No Country for Old Men.

Just a force of evil from the outside world come to town.

But like I said, not an exact copy.

I once saw Joel Coen and Frances McDormand at water fountain. It was right before No Country for Old Men came out.

Word. Fargo Season 1 is miles better than the first season of Breaking Bad. Yes, BB is arguably the best show of all time but Fargo is just getting started

Martin Freeman was incredible as Lester

Yeah, the entire cast was incredible.

Martin Freeman and Billy Bob both killed it.

Bob Odenkirk as the police chief was just perfect, probably my favorite character in the show.

Molly, Gus and Mollys dad were all really good.

Glenn Howerton was hilarious.

Key and Peele as the bumbling FBI agents were great.

The two assassins were great.

Overall one of the strongest casts in any show I have seen.

I spent whole yesterday watching it.

It was obviously good, but I still would prefer the movie... I don't know why I get these mixed emotions about it. Maybe because I felt Lester guy could have been done better - he snapped into bully from a bully victim so easy, started plotting most heinous things to undeserving people and did not lose sleep over it. There should have been more inner conflict to him, in my eyes. Or, he was a shallow shit.

I didn't like how the sporty guy on the bicycle got done during the raid and nobody cared about it afterwards. It's an obviously bizzare set up case, isn't it. Also, cops were too trigger-happy and could have gone through backdoor as well.

The Supermarket king was a good character, but it was left there standing by his son. Maybe, but I wanted to see more.

The bad guy was mysterious but I also didn't get what his thing in life is. It seems he's a people-hating monster, which is on spot, but not more else besides that...

I'd give it 8,5/10, I wonder what would it be without seeing the film.

just finished season one and wanted to add another "this show is amazing" comment. I personally liked it better than true detective and about the same as the movie. The only thing that threw me off was key and peele. Binge watched their first 3 seasons not too long ago so i kept thinking it was a key and peele sketch every time they came on.
