How does it not mean anything? If we're willing to accept that the Bulls with a 100% Rose and underperforming Butler is better than a 100% Butler and underperforming Rose, that definitely means something. Rose's impact is visible on the court..when he's in constant attack mode it makes things so much easier for everyone else on the court. It puts the defense under so much more pressure and the Bulls offense, which isn't schematically complex at all, is bailed out because of it.

Butler can play defense, make hustle plays, score efficiently now, pass to an extent..because that's who he is..a terrific 2nd option. But I'm taking the dynamic offensive threat in current Rose every day of the week..which really goes back to your own point about offense > defense.
