How overrated are Larry Bird and Magic Johnson?

How overrated are Larry Bird and Magic Johnson? Transport those two into the modern era and they wouldn't even be top 3 players in the league. LeBron, Durant and Anthony Davis are far better than those two.

People laud these guys as top 5 players of all-time and it honestly stuns me. Can you imagine Durant going up against Bird 1 on 1? He would smoke his slow, unathletic, overrated ass. LeBron would make an even bigger mockery out of prime Bird and prime Magic.

Do people not even realize that nobody played defense in the 80's? The modern era is the most competitive the league has seen. The game has evolved and guys like Magic, Hakeem, and Bird simply wouldn't be as good as they were in today's game.

Hakeem would not be a top 5 player today. His athleticism and skill set simply would not translate favorably in today's league.

LeBron, Durant, Anthony Davis, Westbrook and Harden are all better than Hakeem (in LeBron and Durant's case, MUCH MUCH better).

Robinson was essentially a less athletic Dwight Howard. Lots of players were better than him and I'm not impressed. The top 3 players in the league now are LeBron, Durant and Davis. Hakeem never had a season better than those 3.
