I agree with this. We don't do much Turkey here and I've always wondered why it's so big in America when it's such a dry and flavourless meat.

What kinda turkey are you eating? Roast turkey or cold cut turkey?
On top of thanksgiving, i usually have 3-4 additional roast turkeys a year. I love that.
Deep fried turkey is really really good, but i've only had it once.

Roast turkey. I don't mind cold cut turkey but every time I've had a roast turkey (which admittedly is probably around 10 times but at various places) it's been a dry meat and didn't have the flavours other meats have naturally. Gravy helps but it's still seemed like a naturally poor tasting meat.

All foods overrated, all you need is an Apple and maybe some tuna fish.
Pork. I don't mind some traditional dry aged ham, ribs, some glazed pork chops, but there is a reason pork steak isn't really a thing. There is a reason pork is always drenched in sauce or marinade. Because the raw, fresh ingredient really doesn't taste very good.
All in all I don't know why pork isn't a niche meat like horse. Horse tastes much better actually.

People who are saying they didn't like in n out, did you get it animal style? Because that's kinda the point of the burger....otherwise, yeah it's basically your regular $5 cheeseburger. You can get your fries animal style too. And if the fries weren't good, ask for them well done next time. Some like them like em better that way, I personally don't tho.
Double double animal style, with animal style fries and a ice tea lemonade for $8... There isn't a better deal out there. Obviously it doesn't match up to a $20 gourmet style burger but I don't think anybody propping up in n out is trying to make that distinction.
A good burger and fries is among one of my favorite foods so I probably have a bit of a biased opinion.
As for overrated, I gotta say dark chocolate. Never understood how people can eat it up like they do. I get the health and antioxidant aspects of cocoa and cacao, which is why I will eat it on occasion but seriously, 60% 70% 80% like wtf...

New York-style pizza: Only the media center of the US can hype such feeble fast food. Chicago style embarrasses it.

All of this post, kind of...
I seriously still haven't found a pizza place that lives up to the hype. But I've only been to like half a dozen spots throughout nyc so my sample size is small but I came In thinking every spot would be off the hook...nope.
Filet mignon is good....over priced, but good. But some of the best steaks I've had came from my kitchen off my iron skillet. A simple top sirloin is all I need. I love me some tritip though.
Lobster, I can fix wit....surf and turf is my digs but I get how some would feel lobster is overrated. I love seafood, even more so for sushi, one of my goals to eat from jiro, but uni IMO is also overrated...its nutty, it's good, it all that tho...and I had some fresh ass uni when I was in Vancouver.
Mex is good, I don't care...I get cravings for jack in the crack tacos for ****s sake. Taquerias all day. I ain't even lying but some of the best food I ever had was from some roach coach looking local spot in cabo. Flys pestering like crazy, but I don't even care. Complementary Homemade tortilla chips and gauc too....dude.

Crabs, shrimp and lobster. Shit taste like nothing. I hate the butter with it and the cocktail sauce just doesn't do it for me. I dont get the hype over Lobsters, its expensive. Overpaid large shrimp to me. And the process of getting meat out of crabs? Nah. I'll never understand why people like cracking open legs and getting meat out. F*ck cucumbers doe. Horrible yokes. I can't stand the smell or taste of them.
Other overrated foods imo include:
Peanut butter - Ew. Americans love it for some reason but I really don't like it.
Tomatoes - In elementary school, we did a program called 'Food Dude' where once a week, we'd have to eat a different fruit or vegetable and if we ate all of it, we'd get a prize. It was terribly easy, and I managed to get all the prizes, but tomatoes gave me the most trouble. I had to run down to the bathroom half-way through eating a tomato as I thought I was going to get sick. I'm still scarred from it.
Sushi - Looks nice, I want it to be nice, but every time I try it, I don't enjoy it at all. I'd like to try it in a restaurant though. Mine weren't the best quality.

its such low overhead, everyones copying it for different food models. more copying Chipotle i guess, but Chipotle basically do what Subway always did with pick your ingredients for healthier, fresher fast food.

I've had it good I just didn't like it. Now cajun dishes with seafood is good. Eating shrimp as the main meal where you're dipping it in butter, sauce and what have you? Different to me.
Edit: I say i had it good based on the place I went + the person I went with loving seafood.
lso LOL @ the idiot who said crab is overrated. Ya ok buddy, that's EASILY a top 10 food.
I'll eat mexican over crab any day of the week...idiot.

For thread I'd say Chinese food..most spots are cheap greasy and pretty bad quality..although I've been to a Japanese sushi place that made excellent chienese food but most places in general suck.
Well, of course the greasy hood Chinese joints that only sell shrimp fried rice would suck with an egg roll suck, they're cheap!
Go to a nice Asian cuisine and shit goes down.

You're up north though. That down south cajun/seafood cooking is one of a kind.

Your experience with crab is probably limited to asian buffets and red lobster. Come back to me when you actually try decent crab. idiot.
And anyone saying steak probably eats top sirloin that is well done.
A med. rare pan seared ribeye is literally the best food on the planet

Cauliflower, might be the most worthless vegetable. Nothing can be done to this to make it taste good.
Da fuq?
Cauliflower is delicious. All you gotta do is steam the thing and it tastes amazing.
If you're too much of a pansy about it, grate it really finely, and make it into a couscous type deal. My girlfriend hates it, but once she learnt about this, she loved it. She switched it for rice in a lot of her meals to cut carbs too.

But in all actuality, my wife suggested broccoli slaw to replace spaghetti for pasta, and it was actually surprisingly good. Would highly recommend.
