Playing under Kerr system( similar to Pop), with Currry running the show. His passing skills is not that great, got that Ray Allen run run shoot type of shot. I feel Klay is not much of a versatile volume scorer, rather a Ray Allen type of scorer.

Anyways, Hawks and GSW = Overrated AF, 2nd round exit at best

Since he was already a good player with Mark Jackson, no.
You see, shooters will thrive in every system you put them on.

Ray Allen in his prime was a more versatile scorer, and a legit #1 option. Also a better play maker/facilitator than Klay

Everyone's a system player to some extent.

Klay is beyond a system player even if playing next to Steph is one of the grandest luxuries a SG could fathom.

There's no such thing as a system players. Everyone has different skills sets, and some coaches or rosters accentuate certain players.

Klay has a quick, accurate shot. He's quick for his size with a decent off the dribble repertoire. Really good defender. What kinda of team wouldn't make a guy like that look good? There's no "system" that doesn't need Perimeter guys who can shoot.

I hate this kind of analysis. What is a system player and what about Thompson makes him more of a system player than the next shooting guard?

Why is "system player" still used as some sort of insult?

Well Mark Jackson and Steve Kerr ran entirely different systems so...

So in chess an expierenced players Queen would be a "System" piece? The abilities of the piece are the same so why knock it for being properly utilized?

if i'm a coach, i'll want system players much more than i want a superstar.

I wish Klay Thompson was on our team. We don't have much of a system, but he would be a better fit than our current SG, Andre Roberson.

Klay is one of the best shooters in the league, great defender and rebounder. He can run the floor and finish and can also sometimes create his own shot. He is not any type of system player. The 2nd best SG in the league is not a system player.

Klay obviously has the talent to be on any team. He may be in an ideal situation, but he would be great anywhere.

Exactly..

His game/skillset transfers over to any team

Klay is an alpha dog FLAT OUT! I think he could be the number one option on a team and get 25-27 points a night every year if he had too. Sharpshooters like Ray, Reggie, And Dale Ellis did this. Ray was the more versatile offensive player don't get me wrong. But in the two way sense, Klay is the best SG in the world.

So I say Klay is the 2nd best SG in the world AND would get it in for ANY TEAM! And keep in mind he's ONLY 24 years old. And he's something we have never really seen since the days of Jerry West. And that's a pure shooter alpha dog WHO IS ALSO a great defender!

Lets be honest, Klay cannot lead a team by his own. He's not that type of player. He'll always be a Robin.

What exactly is a system player? A guy who doesn't iso-chuck away at FG%=usage rate?

All the comments about Klay being a great shooter and a good shooter are true but only thing that most fans don't see is his ability to shoot over shorter defenders. Some shooters rely heavily on picks even when their defender is 2-3 inches shorter than them.

Hawks can easily make the finals in the east.

People who are morons and know nothing about basketball like to toss around idiotic terms like "system player". If you ask or feel compelled to ask this question you should just shut it down and realize you're and idiot.
