Averaged 23.4 in a league where teams averaged 80 ppg. Led the league in FG% with 47.8 while the league average was 34%.

Only played two seasons though. Alex Groza:

There is one other rookie in history who scored more than 20 ppg and led the league in FG%.

Alex Groza was lifetime banned from the NBA for point shaving (purposefully holding down the score to impact who will win bets)

Ah okay. I was wondering what happened to him.

It's a shame, a career that started that well in that era could have been special.

The other high scoring rookie who led the league in FG% was Walt Bellamy. It's interesting how some of these guys had their best or close to best statistical season their rookie year.

Like Ron Harper. Granted, he was successful role player for the Bulls second 3-peat, but I remember dude looked like a budding star his first few seasons in the league. That Cavs team was supposed to be the next great team with Harper, Price, Ehlo, Daughtery. But it was the Bulls.

Yeah well, 1949/50 season. I don't know when the first black NBA player was. I was just amazed at this guy's efficiency in that era, and that he only played two seasons. It's like comparing Shaq's FG% to AI's. And dude wasn't a center either. But I'm not claiming anything more than that. Might have had a great 50s career if he hadn't been point shaving, though.

Ηe also led the league in FG% in his 2nd season, as well, which nobody did (first 2 seasons). Too bad there's hardly any footage of him around.

Some people give a damn about history. But I realize you'd rather just see endless Lebron/Kobe threads instead. Which can be fun sometimes, but they got old.
