I don't understand what he was trying to do. Was he going to go up for a dunk and then changed his mind?

I don't understand what he was trying to do. Was he going to go up for a dunk and then changed his mind?Tough to say for sure but it looked like his plant leg may have given way a small bit, where instead of providing spring, it absorbs it. Have actually been there before.

This is precisely what happened, should still be able to make the layup though.
