It's an interesting comparison as both have played their entire career for arguably the GOAT time coach in their respective sport, and both have been labeled as "system" players. I think Duncan would have been an all time great regardless of where he played. Not so sure about Brady.

Brady is basically the best of example of the American dream. He was last on Michigan's depth chart and sat for 2 years, was last on the Patriots dept hchart, picked 199th or some shit, and fought past all of that to be the best QB of all-time.
Duncan was always ranked and we knew he was going to be dominant after his sophomore year.
Ranking greatness, it's hard, but I'd probably say Brady because there is more parity in football, and he's managed to win consistently. Not taking anything away from Duncan though, he's a top 10 NBA player of all-time and the best of his era.

Lawerence Taylor

Peyton Manning

If the Patriots had not got caught cheating multiple times (no telling how many other ways they are doing it and haven't been caught yet)...then I think the edge would go to Brady. 4 Super Bowls > 5 NBA Championships IMO. I think they're basically the same stats-wise...good peaks, great longevity.

Sort of but not really. Making it as a QB is really difficult since there is only one spot. And this is currently a golden age of QBs.
It would be sort of like making it as a first team all nba PG in this era if there was only one PG spot on the first team.

Wrong. Brady > Jeter/Kobe.
Brady's individual numbers are sparkling, more than good enough to place him in the GOAT conversation. He's a fantastic player individually. There's no real argument to exclude him from #1 QB all-time with his 4th Super Bowl and 3rd Super Bowl MVP.
Neither Jeter nor Kobe are really in conversation for the best player at their position (Honus Wagner/Michael Jordan).
I've also gotta ask, what system did Jeter play in?

Do you watch the games?
Last night he made what? 4 or 5 impressive passes? Out of what? Like 37 completions... lol, he's a system QB. He's an all-time great that you couldn't replace with just anyone, let's not get my view twisted, however, if you take him away from BB and that franchise, his career would look vastly different and there is 0% chance that he would be as highly regarded as he is now. There are probably at least a dozen QBs if not more that you could replace him with over the past 15 years that would have done just as well.
I've never seen a QB that throws as many 2 to 5 yard dump offs only for the receiver to run the ball 10 to 20 yards while the QB gets all the credit. It really is unbelievable how overrated the guy really is.

Throwing short passes is the way to win games, burning the clock and letting the defense rest. The guys I mentioned all played like yet Brady is the only system QB? Even though he has played through different systems? :facepalm

The more I think about it, the more I think Brady has had the more impressive career. He's a a couple of fluke plays from having 6 Superbowl rings (one of them being the greatest season in NFL history). That said, I think Duncan is the better individual player in his respective sport. I don't think Brady is a "system QB", but I don't think he has anywhere near the same career with a different organization. Hell, had Drew Bledsoe not got injured we may not even know who Tom Brady is right now. IMO Duncan is an all time great on any team, in any situation, with any coach. That's the main difference between the two. In terms of how things actually played out, give me Brady.
1 SB ring is equivalent to 2 NBA rings.
Most SB rings as a player is Charles Haley(49ers, Cowboys) with 5. He still hasnt been selected to the HOF.
That just shows you how hard it is to get multiple SB rings.
But it's a dumb comparison, dumb debate. 2 sports that's polar opposites.

Brady didn't really do anything impressive it was a banged up legion of boom with Jeremy Lane out after a pick and Simon got owned by Edelman twice on the same play in the end zone after Brady missed the first time. How many times did Brady pass to his RB boooring :sleeping
Of course Gronk is going to catch that TD pass on the LB nothing. Brady made a couple of good throws but didn't do anything that impressive. Edelman should've been MVP

Looks like you haven't been outside the US.
It's a typical US response, the majority of them have no clue what happens outside their country, they are controlled more than the countries they ridicule for being controlled. If most of them knew what their country was actually doing around the world(instead of the propaganda they get fed) there would be a lot more rioting. The rich don't realize that when the poor get big enough in number, they will have nothing to lose, and the army of the rich(police/military) have been provoking them and taking a lot of heat for doing whatever they want. The US is heading in a bad direction and the majority of their population doesn't even realize it.

Plenty of us realize it. It's not an easy fix. There has to be a nation wide wealth redistribution over the coming decades or sooner...or we really will be on the verge of the average person just getting fed up and taking what they want.
So much of the problems in the U.S. are all connected...your zip code you are born into sadly determines so much about your future.
I know many smart and driven people working in think tanks tirelessly on these issues....but it's very hard to overhaul the health system, dietary issues, education issues, fair wage concerns...etc.
I have hope we will pull through the coming years like we always have, but no doubt it could get really really bad.
