View Full Version : Hawks and Warriors are getting too much hype

They have been the two best teams thus far, but it's still way too early to call either favorites to come out of their conferences. Recent history has shown us that playing lights out in the first few months of the season is actually a bad thing.
Last season the Spurs were mediocre at this point and losing to nearly every elite team they played, but it didn't matter cause they got hot at the right time. 2 years ago the Heat were a fairly average 27-14 team prior to the 27 game win streak that started in early February. If the Hawks and Warriors are still playing lights out in March then we can start calling them favorites, but I have a feeling both of those teams will be coming back down to earth after the All Star break. I mean when is the last time we saw a team be dominant for an ENTIRE regular season and playoffs? 2008 Celtics maybe, and even they struggled in the playoffs. :confusedshrug:

:lol I'm just telling it how it is. Spurs had a horrible record against the top teams for most of last season, but in the playoffs they destroyed those same teams.

Not too sure about the Hawks but.. Warriors are a Bogut injury away from another 1st round exit. Steph Curry is a choker also. Would love to see the Cavaliers play them in the finals tbqh.
I wouldn't shock me at all if the Warriors don't make the Conference Finals tbh. Don't know about Steph being a choker, but I'm not sold on him being a superstar/mvp just yet.

Spurs were mediocre? They had the best record and I don't remember them struggling with elite teams in the regular season.
Who's overhyping these teams? nobody is claiming championship. Just that they are the best teams right now. which is correct
Practice?

If the Cavs had 19 wins in a row, ESPN would be freaking out.
I think they're getting less hype than they should be.
So for once, teams are getting hyped instead of superstar players and it's a bad thing? :biggums:

To be fair, and very surprisingly, the OP has a point.
We had very few big wins around mid-to-late January. We couldn't seem to beat another top 8 Western team to save our lives. But a lot of this had to do with our various injuries.
It doesn't really matter for the Hawks imo. They get a 1st round bye and even the 2-5 out East is still weaker than 1-8 out West (aside from a hot Cavs).
Agree about GS. Their role players won't get nearly as much burn come Playoff time, and I'll never trust a team who relies on Steph Curry to bring them home.

They went a combined 2-10 in the regular season against the Rockets, Thunder, Heat, and Pacers.

What does regular season prove? Dallas was the 8th seed in the west and took the spurs to 7 games while miami almost got swept being the second seed in the east.

Everyone knows they're not going to win shit so whats the point to talk about it.If the suns went on a 20 games win streak it would be ignored too cause we know they're not going to win shit kobetard
