View Full Version : Blazers struggled badly in January

The Blazers began the month at 26-7, the second-best record in the NBA behind only Golden State, which was 25-5 then.
But the Blazers lost some serious ground by going 6-9 in the month. That's their worst January winning percentage since going 4-11 in 2004-05 and is even one loss worse than the terrible 2005-06 team that finished a league-worst 21-61 and was 6-8 in January.

Nicolas Batum has been playing with a torn ligament in his shooting wrist. Fans don't understand why he isn't getting it repaired. He clearly isn't close to the shooter he was before it got injured.
Aldridge some how is putting up the crazy games with one hand. He's out there grabbing rebounds even though he can't snatch them before of his left thumb has a torn ligament.
Lillard in a shooting slump that I've never seen before.
Robin Lopez and Joel Freeland have been out all month.
This team is dealing with some issues right now. It doesn't help that Chris Kaman is a black hole and plays very little defense.

Aldridge is playing fine through his injury, but Batum is not. If it impacts your game that much, you need to get heeled. Batum playing through is not helping his team.

I made two Blazer related threads just like this and they both got deleted. Why is this website trying to put down a brother on black history month?

This whole all star thing just ****ed Lilliard so hard, nikka needs to let that shit go, that and the injuries to Aldridge and Lopez didn't help.
Can't see them being a contender with their leader being such a mental midget.

His slump started before the all-star announcement, so I doubt that is the reason. Silly that he is now called a "mental midget" because of a 10 day slump when he has already stepped up on a bigger stage in the playoffs. Short term memories, I tell you.

Lillard will bounce back soon enough and people will forget all about this bad stretch.

That's what happens when you are a jump shooting team. Lillard shot .281% on 8.1 3pt attempts in january. What the hell is up with all the three point chucking this season by everyone?

This is the "true shooting %" generation. They use it as an excuse to chuck 3s, but shooting 3s is only smart if it is in the natural flow rather than when it involves forced shots.

I REALLY, REALLY don't understand WTF the team is doing with Batum. The dude is earning 11mil, and wasting this whole season playing injured and playing like trash. Why didn't they just fix him up earlier in the season so he would be ready come playoffs? It can't be good for form either playing with this injury and shooting differently than normal.
I just don't understand the whole situation. Incredibly frustrating.

Blazers need to shut him down. He isn't helping playing through.

Bench is seriously weak. You can't rely on anyone to provide help and give you 16 pts on a consistent basis.
Clips has Crawford.
Spurs-Ginobli,
OKC, Reggie,
Warriors, Iggi, Speights and LIvingston.
Houston has Terry, Brewer
Griz has Udrih, Allen and Carter
Bec of this, LMA and Lillard are very pressured to score a combined 50 pts/game.

We have a couple of half decent bench players but outside of that it turns to trash very quickly. Also, we don't have one guy you can rely on to come off the bench and drop 15. That's why I was super excited about the Chandler rumours but it seems like that was all a load of nothing.

The bench was extra bad once Lopez went down, because Kaman often became the starter and he is our best bench player.
