What you're saying is dumb because Roberson is a roleplayer like most NBA players. He has a job to do, he is given guidelines for how to play by his coach. Like almost everyone in organized basketball. To fit your ideal of "alpha" a guy like Roberson has to play in a way that his coach does not want and that just means he goes to the bench. Eventually leads him out of the league. And then what is he getting paid? Everyone can't be Russell Westbrook, the overwhelming majority don't have the talent.

What is with the obsession on ISH to determine who is "alpha" and who is "beta." Why not just analyze their basketball abilities since there are more than 2 types of players in the league?

Do you even know what the alpha/beta dichotomy really means? It refers to dominance in the wilderness, and the ability to get a mate and reproduce. Whether you're the one guarding the other team's best player, or whether you're the one shooting the ball on your end, has nothing to do with being alpha or beta. Maybe if he was a defensive specialist whose defense tended to be worse in the fourth quarters, you could call his mental toughness into question and call him beta. But this bullshit about who shoots the ball and who's alpha or beta just reeks of you being a twelve-year-old loser who doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

This isn't about alpha and beta. Robinson can only stay in the league if he defends very well, not everyone has the offensive power of Westbrook.
I would rather be a defender who never shoots and stay in the league than go to the Dleague or Europe being payed much less.
