Discuss what should have been.

Aside from a few good games, in general he played like ass. Nothing more to discuss here. Kobe's done. It's time to talk about his legacy instead of pretend that it hasn't already ended.

If Lebron had help right out the gate when he was drafted to the Cavs, he never woulda left.
and he easily would have more than 2 rings.
just imagine.
we coulda had a Kobe vs Lebron finals.

He wasn't even the MVP of the Lakers.

If Kobe had enough "help" that the Lakers would be one of the top teams in the West, he would definitely not the best player on the team. But his FG% would increase.

If you with "help" mean peak
Shaq
MJ
Pip
Duncan
And only Kobe had the green light, then
I'd agree.

If you put the defenders around him and had a playmaker to take the pressure off him like 98 MJ, then maybe he'd be in the convo if he was the top scorer on a Playoff team...but not top 3 because these younger dudes are playing their asses off, and they have the durability to do this for 80 games.
Kobe at this stage of his career should not be playing point guard...it takes too much out of his body to do that consistently. He was called upon to run the offense AND score 20-30 points....his health didn't hold up.
If I was the GM, my first priority would be to get a solid playmaker and as many good perimeter defenders as possible, don't need to throw big money at Monroe or someone else when Lakers have Randle and will be in position to draft Towns or if lucky, Okafor.
The aim should be to put Kobe in the post and have him play off-ball more...it's time to take the pressure off him and play a different style of ball.
