View Full Version : Hi ISH. Have you checked your pH level lately?

Fast food, sodas, etc. Acidity causes weight gain, weak bones, weak joints and muscles, heart disease, diabetes, etc. Make sure you are balancing your diet by alkalizing your diet.

Simple things to do every day:

1. Add lemon to your water

http://happyandraw.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Lemon-Water.jpg

Benefits:

-Aids digestion
-Cleanses your system
-Reduces inflammation
-Helps fight viral infections and gives immune system a boost.

2. Add greens to at least one meal in your diet to start.

Stay healthy ISH. We won't be young forever

Hmm...I think you've been doing your pH test wrong. Hope you haven't performed this test on any of your loved ones.

From what I've read, your body is already a pH leveling machine using calcium from your bone to level. Food doesn't directly do anything to your pH level.

Alkaline water claims is also a fraud.

Drinking lemon water is still good though.

Is that what I said? Vegetables are great for you but the reason isn't their alkalinity.

Practice?

Not that table salt has a huge effect on PH or this discussion but..

my 10 year old had a school project over the holidays.. to try and cut her families use of salt to 2000mg per day per person (we said screw it on Christmas)

wow you start looking at the sodium levels in our daily foods it's off the charts crazy... It really is amazing the amount of salt some restaurants or foods we use all the time have in them.. low fat foods being some of the worst as they evidently try and replace lost flavor

This is nonsense. the pH of your food doesn't matter when it gets broken down in your stomach where it's pH 1. Why vegetables are good for health has nothing to do with pH.

All it says is that drinking grossly expensive bottle of water that actually does nothing to your pH or whatever is as good as eating good vegetable.

Just drink some buffers like Ammonia, it will take care of your pH levels. Don't want your intracellular system reaching acidosis, would hate for some proteins to start denaturing

You're an idiot. There is literally 1 portion of your body that even approaches a pH of 1, and it never hits that level, it's around 2-3. If your arterial pH drops below 7, you're probably going to die.

I didn't say anything remotely similar to that.
After food is eaten, it is broken down in the gut and those nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream. pH of food before consumption would not be an indicator of what would happen physiologically in the context of blood pH; the physical structure of the nutrient molecule and the physical change in structure from a redox reaction is what gives change to hydrogen ion concentration in blood.
Even then, blood pH is tightly regulated to physiological pH(7.35-7.45); anything outside that range is an indication of disease and extremely unhealthy diets.

yeah he's been like this in the MMA thread, too. he probably heard this stuff in a middle school health class and is now trying to school ISH. (lol)

oh well, at least he's right about bodily pH being a significant health issue. OTOH if you concentrate on a low-inflammation, whole-foods, probiotic, low-glycemic diet... pH is generally going to be a non-issue. but certain individuals might have a predisposition towards low pH, so it's prolly worth checking from time to time.

OP, how do I check my pH levels?
you can get the testing strips at some pharmacies, medical supply stores and healthfood stores. otherwise you might have to snag them online, but they're not expensive. maybe $5 for a pack of 50 or something like that.

OP is right-- check saliva and urine. you should also look at a food chart of metabolised pH to get an idea of what effect your favorite foods have on your pH. this kind of thing:
