Since Boozer and Deron left, the Jazz has had a lot of good players but can't seem to put a contending team together. And then they lose those players.
Al Jefferson, Millsap, Carroll and Kanter will soon follow.

why is carroll being mentioned when he is just a wing defender, has he learned who to be effective on offense more than once every 15 games?

He's an excellent wing defender, and has improved on offense considerably.

He averages 11/5 and shoots 40% from 3, (while taking 4 a game, he takes a lot) and guards the other team's best wing every night. He's the prototypical 3 & D guy who you've seen so many times on Pop's Spurs teams.

How are you this out of the loop? Carroll has been an effective offensive player since coming to Atlanta with a coach that knows how to use him

Coach Bud working that magic.

Defensively, Carroll is top 1/3 at the small forward position. Very underrated on the defensive end.

Jefferson was not a loss.

Wes Matthews was not mentioned.

Carroll was great with the Jazz even before he was shooting 3's. Always played better when he was on the court. One of the best bargains in the league along with Millsap.
