View Full Version : Sooner or later, the East will become better than the West, right?
You'd think the East sucking and getting all the high draft picks while the West gets older and start rebuilding.. Just natural cycle, right?
In theory at least..

It's funny that you say that when the 3 best draft picks in recent years are in the West (Anthony Davis, Lilliard and Wiggins).

The NBA will change to a top 16 format long before that happens. Adam Silver said it himself. Change is coming.
All of the good, intelligent organizations just happen to be out West. Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Warriors, Blazers, Grizzlies, etc. All of these teams have front offices that know exactly what they're doing.

Poor management in the east leads to continued losing. The Wizards could have drafted Curry but traded the pick for Miller/Foye who were on expiring deals.

Teams in the west finish with winning records, but still get loterry picks. Eastern teams finish with losing records but are out of the loterry. It helps build a talent disparity.

It's what happens when all the free agents go and join contenders, there's none left for the bottom teams. Most of them just happened to go out West.

I wouldn't say Wiggins is better than Drummond yet.

That's the symptom not the cause. Over recent NBA history FAs aren't breaking their backs to get to Memphis, Houston, NO, PHX. It's good management, not the free agents.

You are right, then 3 out of 4 top draft picks.
This year could be more of the same, yes you have the Sixers and Knicks up there, but also the western teams minny (although they playing better) and the lakers.
Western teams have more capacity in terms of running successful NBA franchises.

No.
WC franchise are simply better than the Eastern ones. Not to mention a team like the Jazz finishes with a worse record out West than they would in the East, which means a higher draft pick.

It's been like this since the 1999 lockout.
Helped inflate a number of careers....

You can add Vince and T-Mac to the list.
Most of these players went to the West and disappeared.
Lebron is clever.

The Bucks are about 2 seasons away from being elite, imo.

Yes. There is going to be a point where the East becomes just as competitive, if not better, than the West. It is just a matter of time. It is a cycle.

If the NBA changed the playoff format this would actually be possible. Think about it right now, there are teams in the East that should be in the lottery missing out on good players because they play in a shitty conference. Changing the playoff format would truly be better for everybody.
