So far this season Portland blew out the Mavs at home and will likely lose in OT on the road because Dallas played out of its head for the last 3 minutes of the game...I would say Portland is clearly the better squad.

Monta has proven last year was not a fluke, but its not enough to contend with the big dogs in the West, still... although he's pretty consistent. Something Parsons is not. Dirk is simply aging, when he doesn't get it going, he luckily won't take 20+ shots, he won't hurt the team that way.

Tyson's offensive rebounding is insane though.. love that. Also stayed right infront of LMA at the end. We're not a WCF team, though.

Parsons has been awful. What ****ing season have you been watching? He is clearly our main problem. Not that we have a main problem really...just that he's obviously not playing up to his salary far more than any other guy on our team.

I'd much rather play Aminu more and Parsons less.

Not sure why there is so much Rondo hate. He greatly improves our defense and allows Monta to not use up so much energy handling the ball and defending.

How he improves our defense will trump our offensive struggles with him in a playoff series.

I totally agree with one caveat.

If they get healthy "and they add another big man" they can do some major damage in the playoffs.

We have to add another big that can play 15 or so minutes in the playoffs. We do that and if right we could definitely be scary.

Rondo/Ellis/Aminu/Dirk/Tyson....that lineup could do so much on both ends if we iron out some of our chemistry issues offensively...because that lineup above could actually be elite on both ends and on the glass. That is the type of lineup that could give a team like the Warriors a nightmare because we could make them work on both ends...and if Ellis/Dirk are rolling...and Aminu can hit a certain percentage of corner threes it would be a buzz saw on both sides of the court.

Yea, but I really think Rondo is going to help a lot more in the playoffs than most Mavs fans are thinking.

I totally agree with what you say based on the games so far this season, but my hope and legit thought is that Rondo is going to be able to really help a lot in the playoffs in the following areas:

1. Perimeter defense
2. Rebounding
3. Making big plays in crucial moments in the playoffs

The first 2 are a lock. As is the fact that our offense will be worse with him, but I think what he brings will trump offensive dips...especially in the playoffs when the style of play changes so much.

So I hear you, but I also think Kent has some solid points and like I said above...if we add a legit backup big for 15 or so minutes a game...then I'm pretty optimistic we could make some noise.
