Just seen one estimate of 4-6 weeks... Even losing a week for all-star 5 weeks could be what, 18 games?

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Clippers just announced that Blake Griffin will undergo elbow surgery and is out indefinitely

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Clips say Blake Griffin has staph infection in his right elbow that requires immediately surgery. He'll be re-evaluated after All-Star break

Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Look for NBA commissioner Adam Silver to name Portland's Damian Lillard as Griffin's injury replacement for the All-Star Game

Oh that's cool for Dame..

but damn, everyone getting injured at some point... I think this means Clippers/OKC will battle it out for the 8th seed, right? Ironically those two will play tonight (among a bunch of other awesome games).

LeBron still healthy :crazysam:

Z-Bo deserves that All-Star spot/selection just as much IMO

The one positive about injuries of all-stars right before the game, is that every year we get others in that deserved it just as much but fell out due to the limited spots.

4 weeks would mean a comeback date of March 8:

Misses 11 or 12 games (one on March 8th) - 9 against playoff teams + 1 against OKC

6 weeks would mean coming back on March 22nd:

Misses 19 or 20 games (one one 22nd) - 12 against playoff teams + OKC twice and Pelicans once

Is it wrong that I immidiately thought about the Celtics having the Clippers' unprotected pick? If they went 8-12 over 20 games without him, NOP would only need to go 13-6 to match their record. Would still require a big collapse from here but this throws the Clippers' playoff place into doubt imo

I thought of that a minute ago too :oldlol:

If he missed 6 weeks and they lose 12/20 they could easily drop to the 10 seed and into the lottery.

Likely Hawes. Big Baby will also see a big uptick in minutes.

Hawes is the biggest beneficiary and also the best for fantasy purposes. Hawes will start today, and will give you close to 13/6 with a block, 1.5 three's, maybe .5 steals, with percentages around 45% and 76%

Rock solid for fantasy

He did it last year in Cleveland in 30 mpg.

This season he's averaging 6.1/3.9 with .8 three's, .4 steals, .8 blocks in just 17 minutes per game.

Hawes will see close to 30 minutes a game so I think he can match those numbers pretty easily.

Eh, I wouldn't say months. Last couple of weeks for sure. Not sure if he's just in a shooting slump or he is just going bonkers chucking because he was upset he wasn't selected as a reserve for the ASG.

ESPN is saying that he caught the infection after a regular fluid draining session for his elbows. So does that means they were using a dirty needle? Or just being careless? The suggested negligence is pretty disconcerting either way.

i don't know...

true story. my dad had horrible knees from playing football in his youth, my brother and i rode him for years about getting his one knee fixed up finally after having it buckle up and him falling down for the zillionth time, he finally agrees he'll get it done

a month later dad calls, hey you remember my old airforce buddy Ty? he died from a staph infection he got after having knee surgery...

scratch dad ever getting knee surgery off the list :lol

fact is it's one tough germ to kill, comes in many forms from what i understand and can be contracted in what we'd assume to be a sterile setting

Sucks, hope he gets back relatively soon.

As for his replacement, originally I would've said Lillard but considering how poorly (relative to his peers) he has been playing, I'd say give the spot to somebody else.

Staph is a Super bug. .. it LIVES in hospitals. Your chances of catching it after any kind of hospital visit are has high as the chances of Blake posting up and choosing to shoot a fade away over Raymond Felton.
