Kevin Love was asked if he'd have interest in the Lakers: "I'm a Cleveland Cavalier." Any scenario where the Lakers would be an option: "No"

lol, that's a lottery team for the foreseeable future.
Love dips then he goes to a contender.

He isn't a FP anyways.
Maybe he wins a title with Lebron but he will never have the numbers he had on a bad team.

"BS, he's just saying that because he's under contract. I'm sure he's already sick of being a spot-up shooter. He will be a Laker next season, book it. Who the hell wants to live in a city like Cleveland anyway? They should've never traded Wiggins."

Id rather the Lakers never acquire Kevin Love. He'd want the max and he isnt worth anywhere near it. Also dont think he could handle being the #1 option in LA

But no other teams media and fans have been saying that Love wants to comeback to LA and play for the Lakers over the last 3yrs.
So of course he's going to be asked about the Lakers.

Thank God. I thought this was a thread about Kevin Martin.
Of course he' not coming to LA. He's not going anywhere...
He's going to exercise his option then hit the free agent market next summer when the big TV money hits the salary cap... he'd be a fool to do anything else, a max contract in 2016 will be much better than a max contract in 2015

This is terrible news for the Lakers, although not surprising, given how he has acted towards joining the Lakers over the years, still, we in for rough rough years, unless we luck out on a big time star, which is unlikely.

While he showed immense potential, ultimately his impact was short lived. Even in the 2009 playoffs where he was mostly injured, the Lakers still won it all which is proof that the most essential cog in the Bynum-Gasol-Odom frontcourt is in fact Gasol. I do wish that Bynum could've fulfilled his potential though.

Come on, man. :oldlol:
We both know that Lakers fans would be partying like it's 1999 if Love went to the Lakers. And, this whole thing with the max being an overpay for Love is insane. First of all, it is a sentiment based only on his first 45 games in Cleveland and not what he has produced over the course of his career. Second, a few years from now, what is a max contract this summer is going to look like peanuts. The television money being figured in to player contracts will only begin to take effect in 2016. It will continue to shoot upward.
His contract -- whatever it is -- will look like a bargain in 2019.

Kevin has a player option for next season and I believe he said earlier this season that he's going to opt-in. He wants a supermax contract like LeBron.

And if that's what he wants, he'll get it.
Easy to forget that Love isn't just about the now, he's about the future too. The guy just turned 26. Three years down the road when LeBron is starting to slow down, Irving and Love will both presumably be in their primes.
Furthermore, the Cavs aren't going to be players in the free agent market anyway. It's not like signing Love to a huge contract will tie their hands in a way that they wouldn't be otherwise. If Gilbert is willing to pay the luxury tax, who cares? I hope he re-signs all of our guys who will be looking for contracts over the next couple years (Love, Thompson, Shump, Mozgod).
The team is looking really good right now and it is still very young.

Na bruh. Honestly no, if it were Russ or Aldridge coming to LA, I'd freak out. Heck, if it were Kyrie Irving, I'd freak out. But if Love was joining the team, and him only, no other FA, I'd have the exact same reaction as I did when Dwight came to the team...

Yeah, he's going to admit mid-season that he wants to go to another team... :facepalm
I don't get why the reporters ask these dumb ass questions mid-season, like they expect a guy on a contending team to go "yeah, I'm looking to join them in the off-season".
I'd rather throw Greg Monroe that money than Kevin Love, tbh. I don't trust Love.
Monroe is avging 15 & 11 on 49% shooting with 12 FGA as a 3rd option
Love is avging 17 & 11 on 42% shooting with 13 FGA as a 3rd option.
Love's biggest attribute (other than his shooting) has been his rebounding, but Monroe is averaging the same amount of rebounds per game while playing 5 minutes less per game. Think about it. And Monroe is slightly better on defense.
At this point, Monroe has more upside because he's shown he can be a more effective 2nd/3rd option and his rebounding has improved quite a bit + he's younger and has more room to grow, and he can be legit used as a Center with his size. He's putting up 10.5 rpg in 30 mpg while playing next to Andre Drummond. There's no doubt he could be more effective if he was the Center on a good all-around team.
no pun intended

"I'm a Laker, not a Cavalier"?
Do you know how much shit that would have caused?

Yeah... especially since him going to the Lakers would make absolutely no sense in the first place. The Lakers are probably going to have to rebuild like every other team in the league... with patience through the draft and by cutting salary. The Celtics and Knicks are doing it right now.
The days of the best free agents flocking to those places just because they're big cities and famous franchises are probably over. You have to get bad to get good in the NBA.

Let's think about this for a minute. The Cavs have Kevin's Bird rights, and he's already said he's going to opt-in next season because he wants a supermax contract when the new CBA kicks in. So if Love were to leave Cleveland, he would probably be leaving $20 million+ on the table to go to another contender that has the cap space to sign him. There just isn't a team like that out there. Any contender would have to significantly alter their roster to make room for him. People need to face the facts, the Cavs played their cards right and also lucked out hard to assemble this current team, and there really is no better situation worth giving up $20 million for.

Thing is, I think everyone pretty much accepts the fact that James and Love are going to be Cavaliers for the long haul... except for the media. Because, let's face it... you have keep churning out copy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in today's market.
So, they'll continue to ask LeBron and Love about their future and attempt to stir up trouble whenever possible. That's what they do.
For years... basically since the day he was drafted, Kyrie Irving allegedly had one foot out the door. Brian Windhorst even went as far as challenging Kyrie during the middle of last season to sign a max contract and "prove him wrong." He said that it had "been known" for years that Kyrie's family was unhappy with him in Cleveland and, if he did re-sign, it would be to a contract with an early opt-out.
What happened?
Literally minutes after the moratorium was lifted this past summers and teams were allowed to re-sign players, Kyrie put his name on a max contract. Suddenly, all the speculation, rumors and innuendo was dead on Irving.
That intense focus has now shifted to LeBron and Love. There was no "I was wrong" article from fatso windbag Windhorst... just a shift to the next guy in line.
And, guess what? When LeBron and Love re-sign, they'll be talking about someone else opting out... maybe Kyrie will be up again by that point.
Dealing with these neverending rumors comes with being a Cavs fan.

It's all a product of the clickbait nature of today's sports media. Most articles have little to no substance, instead the mainstream sites shamelessly manufacture controversial headlines to attract views to increase their ad revenue. And of course it gets broadcasted and repeated endlessly through social media because everyone is racing to share and gossip about the newest controversial topic. You just have to learn to be patient and not let the media get inside your head. I'll admit they almost had me a few weeks ago when the Cavs weren't looking too good. All of the credit should go to David Griffin for making those trades and silencing most of that garbage.
