Feel iffy about Andre Iguodala because though he didn't win, his performance still seems to have a life of its own. Still have love for this guy's performance though:

I hate josh smith now

but his 2005 performance was awesome

from memory he was first to put on a retro team jersey (wilkins) and do a sick windmill

2004 was awesome up until the last round.... if j rich made that last 360 through the legs would have been right up there with Vince carters contest if not better

I've always enjoyed Gerald Green's 2008 contest.

The cupcake dunk is terrific. I'm not much for gimmick dunks, but it's really down to the basics of dunking: jumping high. Green gets his head to rim level and the slow motion clearly shows him blowing out the candle. Nice little new age spin on older dunks where people would lose it just by how high the dunker could get up, while using the technology today.

And the no shoes eastbay is so underrated. Has anyone ever played without shoes on the hardwood? You slip all over the damn place.

Dwight Howard that year he won. Superman dunk was lame, everything else was sick.

However, that socks between-the-legs dunk came right after he'd already done a between-the-legs dunk. As you stated, everyone that's tried to play in socks knows how tough that dunk was, but still looked the same.

That said, the killer may have come in the presentation. He signed his own basketball shoes and presented them to the judges (in particular, Darryl Dawkins). That's a bold move only to repeat the same motion as your previous dunk. Dawkins threw the shoes off the table.

Tracy McGrady 2000, i think VC had only 2 better dunks there.

After a while, dunk contests get really boring. It's more for the teenagers and kids, where life and thing are is still newer and fresh.

-SmakDarvin Ham's a good pull. However, I think he might be a classic case of being so underrated initially that his performance has now become overrated.

Undoubtedly, I think Ham was robbed that year. The judges were all over the place, low-balling folks with the quickness after accidentally going high with Chris Carr. But I mean, even then, Ham did a power side-windmill, a power reverse then that neat backboard touch 360 (but with a rattled finish). All good, but I don't know if anything was absolutely great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2iv6UOn_9g

He deserved better though. No doubt there.

Yea, 90' aswell, that alley-oop windmill he did in 90' was the most epic shit ever (his 1st dunk), made Dominique next to him go like "Ok, this dude just embarrassed every windmill i ever did".... unfortunately was not recorded & they had no replay.... i mean the fools showed a replay of his 1st failed attempt of it while he completed the dunk in the background, soon as they switched the camera to him he was already done all you heard was *BOOM!*.... so there is actually no footage of the entire dunk... :facepalm all you could do is just imagine...

It was good to see a clip of him   :bowdown:I think LJ's contest was seriously underrated for its time. He was nasty and killed the competition heading into the finals. Only lost because he missed a few in the last round. Subsequently, Cedric Ceballos randomly walked away with the title (little known fact: the blindfold came after he'd already clinched).

I don't anything by him is underrated.

He is still in my eyes the goat of the dunk contest.

If I remember Josh did a windmill from damn near the free throw line:biggums:I was mostly satisfied with Smith's '05 showing. That one-footed windmill over Kenyon Martin was delightful - though it wasn't too close to the free throw line. His dunk breakdown that year:

- One hand dunk from a half foot inside the free throw line
- One-footed windmill over Kenyon Martin
- Side windmill while wearing Dominique Wilkins jersey (seemed to get a 50 for the jersey, not the dunk)
- Vince Carter-ish 360 cuff

Not a revolutionary winner, but certainly a worthy one.

Gutted to see him with no bounce in later days with Knicks

Most underrated has to be Darrell Armstrong 1996..:lolAlways thought it was a bummer Armstrong caught such a raw deal for his entrance. His dunking style basically consisted of balls-to-the-wall full court endeavors.

His first finish was pretty legit. But a couple of rim-outs and 90-seconds of running later, that feller was out of juice, leading to the bobble and layup at the end, which he's weirdly mocked for, as if a layup was his intent.

Hell ****ing no. Nobody is touching Vince when it comes to dunking.
