he can't score against current NBA quality centers. he'd have no problem shooting hooks over 6'6 centers, in fact he would back them down like Prime Shaq, he would excel in the faster paced weaker skilled game.

no, there isn't any doubt. He wouldn't get 20pts a game.

He can't score but maybe he could join a stacked team and win 11 rings while just playing one side.

And then would be called the GOAT.

He would have probably averaged 25/25. He's not getting above that. Then again, those are better numbers than Russell ever had :lol

Could Wilt or Russell? Kareem had some serious skills. Wilt was just bigger than everyone else from what I can tell. His HORRENDOUS free throw percentage is a clear indicator of his "skill".

Let me guess, Shaq was an unskilled player too.

Deandre has all the size , athletic prowls , but I hate to say it , he never developed a legit game.
I chalk that up to him , his coaches and playing with Blake.
Blake needs space , and Jordan has maintained that space for him , to get weak side rebounds, and plays the strong side defence.
SO in essence he has become , a defender first, and offender second.
I would of loved to work with him on his free throw shooting, it would keep in the game at crunch time , and would make the team literally unstoppable because of his defense.
A jump hook is o.k. , but if he would of developed one to 2 low post jump shot bank shot moves , he would of been unstoppable.
Why - even if opposing centers new what he would do , he would get to the free throw line.
Example : Bob Lanier had three pet moves, and opposing centers new of his low post moves , would foul him , and Lanier was an awesome free throw line shooter. (It all works together)

Who was the Jordan's opposing CENTER tonight?
Greg Smith, Dwight Powell, and Charlie V for some minutes.
B b but the 60s only had scrub centers like Thurmond Reed and Bellamy :(

anything to discredit Wilt lol Deandre doesn't have a post game, he doesnt even have an offensive weapon other dunking.

:lol Yeah, considering he's averaging less than 8 ppg and 8 rebounds on his career
He's a good player but he's not some elite center, he's good at what he does but being a scoring/rebound machine is not one of them

Center is the one position that hasn't really gotten any more skilled or athletic in forever.

He has become a really effective center. So I'm guessing 10-15 points (the higher the points the more awful the percentage though, like he'd be Bill Russell at best in fg% if he "tried" to score, possibly even as low as Thurmonds accuracy) 14-20 rebounds at his peak (this season/last season being his 'peak' so far in his career) however I'm not convinced he'd have been good enough in his NBA rookie form to have even been offered a contract in the 1960's. Though he would have theoretically had a few more years in college to develop back then.
The fact that he can't create for himself on offense is a huge caveat. Back then, players had to be rounded. On the offense end you couldn't settle as a specialist off offensive rebounds and backdoor plays created by your guards. He'd be asked to create and shoot when he's open at least a couple of times a game just so that his teammates aren't carrying the entire load. Even Bill Russell had a repertoire of moves in isolation situations. His accuracy he has now would plummet as a result but he'd ultimately get maybe 5 more points a game than he does now off of it. And a few more rebound opportunities too because he's going to miss more. So are some of his teammates. He'd also weigh about 25lbs less with the NBA schedule - total lack of facilities - and pace of that time now allowing him to lift weights as regularly as he does now save for the off seasons when he could then finally do it in his own time.
I think he could become pretty solid if he was his current form put back then. But he wouldn't be as good as Bellamy, Thurmond, Wilt, Russell, Reed etc.

Unfortunately like 90% of all NBA fans you think athleticism equals skill. You need much more then that to average 50 a night even in the 60's. He has very little touch around the rim, it's foreign to him.

Dude would be a Baltimore Bullets time-frame Leroy Ellis but without the offense.
I wonder if DJ could run the court like Leroy did. Maybe he could, he's pretty athletic. There was so much fastbreak game that it's hard to compare; but he'd never be higher than Ellis level i.e., always needed help against Russell, Chamberlain, Reed, Thurmond, Unseld.......

Leroy is called one of the fastest players in the entire league in his time by Fred Schauss, let alone just his team and that's in a league with many former Track and Field athletes like Oscar, Gus Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell so I don't know, nobody ever comments on Deandre's speed.
