NBC Suspends Brian Williams for 6 Months Without Pay

Brian Williams, the embattled NBC news anchor whose credibility plummeted after he acknowledged exaggerating his role in a helicopter incident in Iraq, was suspended for six months without pay, the network said Tuesday night.

Lester Holt will continue to substitute for Mr. Williams now, but finding a permanent successor will be a major problem for the network, which was not anticipating having to replace the anchor of its “Nightly News” broadcast for some time. In December, Mr. Williams signed a new five-year contract reported to be worth $10 million a year.

“This was wrong and completely inappropriate for someone in Brian’s position,” Deborah Turness, the president of NBC News, said in an internal memo.

He's got his own hour long show on HBO. It's far better than the daily show.

That seems like a light punishment for Williams. NBC can't really lose another talent I think.

For Comedy Central, they will just find a random comedian, throw him/her into fire and hope he/she survives.

He taking over when NBC fires Brian Williams.

And we get one step closer to network.

I don't think Jon Stewart would want to work for a big broadcaster like NBC. I think they'd limit what he can and can't say.

Stewart is very much in line with NBC's political ideals.

His HBO show is only 1/2 hour once a week, and the Daily Show, I'm assuming, would be much higher paying. Daily Show is 4 nights a week.

It's interesting, because Oliver does seem like a natural replacement....
