Bummer news to report. Mason apparently had a heart attack and has had four surgeries since, the latest of which lasted nine hours: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2362125-anthony-mason-hospitalized-latest-updates-on-former-knicks-condition

Mase was in that video, right?

Man, hope he pulls through. I know he put on a LOT of weight after his playing days, and that had to be a big reason for his poor health.

Amazing handles. He was undrafted right? Or really late? I forget.

Hope he pulls through.

Anthony Mason is in 'stable' condition, according to a family statement.

Just a few days after it was reported former NBA forward Anthony Mason was "fighting for his life" and that he was in critical condition following a heart attack, the ex-basketball player's family announced a favorable prognosis on his current condition.

"My family and I appreciate everyone's support this week, and we are grateful for all of the prayers and well-wishes for our father, Anthony Mason. Our father in now in stable condition and continues to receive expert medical care here in New York as he recovers from his medical procedures. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers," Mason's son and former basketball player Anthony Mason Jr. said in a statement, per Tina Cervasio.

His other son, Auburn basketball player Antoine Mason, is also in New York while he remains in the hospital.

Mason reportedly checked into a hospital last week after complaining of chest pains. After suffering a heart attack, Mason began having complications stemming from congestive heart failure. His agent Don Cronson, indicated Friday that Mason has shown signs of improvement over the course of a couple of days.

Mason, 48, played 13 seasons for six different clubs, spending five season with the Knicks and earning an All-Star bid in 2000-01 with the Heat. Winner of the 1994-95 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, Mason converted 50.9 percent of his field goals in 882 career games.

As weird as this sounds, Anthony Mason's one-handed FT's were like one of my favourite things about 90's NBA. He always reminded me of D-Bo from Friday 'cause of how intimidating he was. Hope he recovers well.
