Shameful how underrated Bird has become. I know their are a lot of young folks on these boards, but saying Lebron has pasted up Bird is just people not having a clue.

Old, broken down, injured Bird still doing stuff like this  Glen Rice was getting played.
Those passes from the post :applause: Beautiful.
Larry's also the GOAT outlet passer, yet it's a forgotten part of his game.
And that play at 3:47 wouldn't have been called like that nowadays.

Not really. I used to work at a senior center (not old old seniors, but like 70 ish), and there was this group of them that really enjoyed watching basketball.
They said that (keep in mind this was 09-10, probably lebron's peak years) Lebron is no doubt going to be better than Bird when its all said and done
Great game though, its a shame that so many greats (and could-be greats) were bogged down by injures

Had Bird Not Gotten Back Injured He Would Have Better Career Stats and Would Have Probably Played Around To 94 or 95. Still a 1979-88 Bird Is The Smartest and Wittiest Player To Play The Game.

Peak-wise, I've always believed Bird was top 5 all time. The Celtics were really unlucky during the late 80's, what with Bias' death, McHale breaking his foot in 87 and Bird ultimately ruining his back. Imagine if they won 1-2 more rings (definitely possible), we'd be looking at Bird as top 3-4 all time.

The Lakers had more fire power in their bench in the 80s but a "healthy" 1986 Celtics Starting 5...Is The Best Basketball I`ve Seen.

Bird's a nice and underrated athlete but when his back gave out, when he had to have surgery on both ankles and when old age also catched up, he didn't have MUCH more athleticism than a Brian Scalabrine or so... And he was still killing it out there time and time again :lol
Severely (career-ending) injured, old, overweight because he couldn't practice much, little mobility left... still making people look like fools.
It's still very exciting to watch him in the early 90's, also because of that.

1980 to 1991! The last period in the NBA when FUNDAMENTALS and SKILLS trumped everything else!
Look at the way Bird uses the angles and inches he is given, unbelievable! Get too close to him with single defense or double team, he's hitting the cutting player for an open layup, lay off him a split second and he's draining the 15 to 18 footer in your face! Poetry in motion. Like I've always said, Larry, Michael and Magic not only beat their opponents, they actually beat the GAME itself! Nobody today comes close

I'm LOL @ Tommy Heinsohn and Mike Gorman discussing the idiotic travel call ~3:55. :oldlol:
But yeah man, by the early 90's, Bird proved age and attrition are just formalities; your basketball skills never go away. This entire video was filled with eye-candy fundamentals.
