Last four games of his COLLEGE career, which included the PAC-12 Title game, and UCLA's three NCAA Tournament games:
2.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 0.8 apg, and on a .222 FG% (which included 0-8 from the College 3pt line.)

He's still only turning 20 yrs.old next month. I don't think he's going to be an NBA All Star in the West, but a 18-21 ppg in his peak years.

He couldn't come close to that against COLLEGE competition.
I think his ceiling will be a slightly better version of last season's Gerald Green

Maybe, maybe not. He's certianly more offensively gifted than White. White obviously was a world class athelete, but for whatever his 5 years in college didn't make the lightbulb in his head come on.
LaVine reminds me more of Gerald Green.

Prediction: Winning the dunk contest will be the highlight of his career.
I don't think he'll amount to much but hope the kid can prove me wrong. Would be fun to watch if he puts on some weight and puts his game together.

Not at all.
But I have been saying it from day one here...
Lavine wasn't worth a damn in COLLEGE, and there is a good chance he will never amount to much in the NBA.
The NBA has seen many good athletes that never accomplished much. And I could not care less about a dunk contest in which there is no defense being played.
Basketball is far more about SKILLS than it is about height or athleticism.

You do care. Anytime he gets shine like that career high against the Lakers, you go crazy. You started spamming his college stats and just being obnoxious. Then you see him getting hype for a dunk contest and you're mad again.
Let's be honest, you want him to fail. You do. It's that simple. Why do you particularly hate this guy? I don't get it. :oldlol:

And yet you have the usual crew of hoops noobs here at ISH riding Lavine's jock...this dude has amazing athleticism but yet he's nowhere near a decent baller and some idiots here are already comparing him to all time legends :facepalm

When Lavine had that ONE good game (and remember, it came against the LAKERS back-court), the Lavine-lovers immediately poured into the topic.
I said back then that it was an aberration...and guess what...that was basically his LAST decent game. Hell, he was losing playing time even before Rubio came back.
So, now when Lavine wins a dunk contest...look at the board. A TON of posted topics...like he is the second coming.
Just hilarious.

He had good games against the Spurs and Houston, too so that wasn't his last decent game

Walt Wesley had a 50 point game...and yet...a career 8.5 ppg player.
White's career high game was 20 points BTW.

He's much better than James White.
I see his peak as a Chalmers type player (not the same style but the same kind of production) where he could start on a stacked team but he will average around 10ppg and play the fourth or fifth option. Either that or a bench career.

Tons of NBA players develop and don't shine there freshmen season. Takes some players a few years to get things going. LaVine was a pretty underwhelming college player and now is a raw NBA player.
I think he's got potential. Always a scary word, wouldn't be surprised if he ended up an All-Star or nothing more than a bench player. He's looked really good at times this season when you factor in that he looked lost at the college level just a year ago. White comparison is laughable. White played 4 years of college ball, and could never earn a spot in the NBA.

I hope he finds his true position or that him at point guard pans out, if not he may just be a super athletic version of Austin Rivers (can get to the rim but can't finish and looking lost on offense).

Hope he develop a threat-worthy 3 pt shot. Much like Gerald Green and Jrich, being able to bomb threes at a neat percentage will open up lanes for him to drive and dunk.
That way he will also be a nice complement to Wiggins.
Sportal
02-15-2015, 09:39 PM
I think if he has a really good off-season then he'll come back a lot better. It depends on his coach and how they will use him...
I'd like to see the Wolves run:
Rubio/Lavine/Wiggins/Young(or pick: Towns)/Pek(or pick: Okafor) for a season. Get the experience going, see how the pick works out, then try to get someone the next hear, or if they are terrible, who cares? Grab another good pick, is it Thon Maker in 2016 draft?
I think Wiggins will turn out, after we see his second half of the season, I hope they give him the keys.

8ppg and 3apg as a 19 year old rookie.
Bob Cousy as a 22 year old averaged 15 and 5. How about we wait and see if he can top that?

He made the All-Star team in his 7th season. I think Sam Cassell and Jayson Williams have him beat as longest 1st All Star appereance.
And Mike Conley just last year.
