The camp for Kings forward Jason Thompson would like to get him traded before Thursday's deadline, a source said.
The longest tenured King has finally had enough after 7 years and like 8 coaches and well over 60 teammates JT wants to move on.
I really think he could help a number of teams he's a PF/C who this year has shut down AD/Taj Gibson/Blake Griffin/Faried x2 and a number of other players elite/star players and under decent coaching was actually a elite defender in the post.
In particular he could help teams like Dallas/OKC/Suns/Clippers basically any team looking to add size and defense and he at times can chip in and score.
While he's never been anything more than a average player dude competes hard and doesn't quit in games for the most part and has literally beat out every single PF the Kings have bought in over 7 years to try and replace him.

They mysteriously played Derrick Williams over him cause they wanted up tempo but the first 20-30 games of the season impact wise he was excellent and a massive reason that the Kings got off to a nice start.

He's the definition of borderline NBA starter.

No doubt which is exactly why a lot of playoff teams could use a big body who plays defense in particular a team like the Mavs. Even someone like Atlanta imo would be great for him as a back up C/PF since he can play both.

I'd take Jason Thompson on Portland. Very poorman's Aldridge. I think he could be good for the Blazers bench. If the price is right do it. Blazers offer Will Barton and a second rounder.

JT makes roughly 5-6 mil per year, I don't think Barton would be close to that at this point in terms of making it work financially.

He could be a good big off the bench for top teams, he always plays well whenever Cousins is absent.

Damn didn't know Thompson was that overpaid. I don't really think TRob is all that great but probably wouldn't trade him for Thompson. Robinson has an enforcer attitude I really like. I think it helps this team to have him just for that punk attitude he has on the court. Every contender needs some nasty as Pop would say.

5-6 million isn't really overpaid relative to other bigs and it will be a bargin going forward as the caps increases. Even borderline starters make 8-9 million if they are not on a rookie deal

Atlanta.
We got a first from Minnesota, and have cap space and small expirers to send out.
We can come in off the bench.
He would fit well in Bud's system.

If teams were offering a first, he would be gone already. Sactown been trying to deal him for years.

what is CHI asking for for Gibson?
Would they consider Stauskas and Thompson?

GOD NO.
Lets get something straight on Thompson. He is awful. He currently ranks #398 in the NBA out of ~450 (91st out of 98 PFs) qualifying players in RAPM. He is a horrible offensive player and his defense is merely decent. For someone like him to be on contract for ~20M over this year and the next two years is a stroke of mastery by his agent. Demanding a trade when you aren't doing what your income demands of you is poor form.
Why do people think he is an actual asset making 13M over the next two years? Sac would have to trade a #1 just to salary dump his sorry ***.

Gibson is significantly better than Thompson.
Thompson plus either Stauskas or McLemore plus a first round pick.
I know that's asking a lot, but the Bulls don't need to make a deal, particularly with one of their more important players, that also happens to be on a team-friendly deal.

Cant' believe he's still in the NBA. I remember some hype his rookie or soph year and then he could have been dead the last 5+ years for all I know.

Racist ass *****!
So its not just Cousins who is upset with the Kings???
Shocker.
If you'd only read ISH, you'd have thought the kings were a well oiled machine and cousins was whiney.
Turns out, the Kings franchise sucks after all.

Wtf are you talking about? The Kings have done everything to disrespect Thompson while bending over backwards for Cousins. They have bought in Landry (two times), Hickson, Patterson, Reggie Evans, Derrick Williams and someone else I'm forgetting to replace Thompson and yet he's beaten every single one of them out over his 7 years.
JT has had to deal with way more bs than Cousins, Cousins just got a 80million dollar deal and a HOF head coach. Meanwhile JT is being unfairly benched for Derrick Williams cause the Kings want to play uptempo......the management for a long time has made it clear that JT is unwanted as a King.

JT has made $16m over the last 5 season, and hasnt averaged over 11 points or 7 rebounds at any point during that time.
If anything, he should be thanking the Kings for his horrid contract.
If he was so unwanted, why did they pay him 5.2m after he averaged 9 and 7 the year before?

Cause he's 6'11 and can play both PF/C and actually had decent skills before this year where he become one of the better post defenders in the NBA. It's far from a "horrid" contract. If the Kings didn't have hogs like Gay and Cousins and actually moved the ball instead of stat padding maybe everyone else's stats would look a bit better....How is any bigman going to function when you got the likes of Cousins/Gay/Thomas/Tyreke Evans/Marcus Thornton not even looking to pass the ball?
Edit
DeAndre Jordan got a 44 million dollar or so over 4 years and his stats where basically what JT's were up until last year where he actually earnt that 11 million dollars. Plenty of bigs got more money than JT for shithouse production, look at Kennath Faried......

Mario Chalmers for Jason Thompson
Chalmers brings a championship aspiration and winning attitude to Sacramento while Miami gets to rid of the dumbest point guard in the game. Win win.

Feeling is mutual. The Kings have been TRYING to trade him for about 4 years. JT is fine until he forgets he can't play offense and starts taking jumpers. He has one good offensive game every 2 months or so and then he starts thinking he can make shots. Just play D and rebound and that's what he is out there for.

Yeah, assuming he wants to go to a better team, he'll need to accept a bench role.
