Hello, I am looking to get a new gaming mouse. What do you all use??

I use fingertip grip so looking for light weight and smaller mouse. Deathadder is no good as I went thru 3 of them.. Clickers and scroll wheel both become unusable with double-click issues. DA is also not designed for fingertip. Before DA, I had diamondback.. Great mouse but both clickers kept double clicking there too. I am done with razer and their shoddy build quality

Mice I am considering:
Logitech G100s
Logitech G402
Logitech G502
Roccat kone
Zowie fk1

Any suggestions??

I'm a clawgrip, mx518's were the best mice ever for my hands. Because they're long gone, with the g400x in lesser quality, the dilemma has sent me on a mouse buying spree over the last few years. The Roccat Pure has been the best for my hands and input response has been awesome since the legendary mx518. But I'm still left without a go-to replacement.
There is a wheel issue with the Roccat's, including the Kone and Pure. This is the main reason why I can't suggest either, unless you are very light with wheel-use.
The Zowie's construction and Steelseries are somewhat similar, both good, more center balanced. The Wheels are nice, the pads are nice, and the weight is good. Lag issues exist with both with was my dealbreaker. Steelseries uses a better USB cable, while Zowie fk1's have nicer sensitivity. Neither are terribly durable.

So now I use a Mx510 upper shell from 2002 with the base and switches off the Roccat Pure and the cable and wheel off the Steelseries. It's amazing how interchangeable some parts are, while others just required some trial and error with the 3D printer. I'm not picky about mice because of gaming, but because I do a lot of design and cad work (so I don't expect other to have a 3D printer, nor know how to use one properly).

Of all the mice you suggested, all of them are about the same and you're left deciding on comfort. If you use your right hand and never switch to your left, I would get rid of the ambidextrous mice.

And just FYI, most mice switches are the same or same design. If the switches are doubleclicking or not clicking consistently, just clean the mouse. You likely got dust and armhairs inside the mechanism. Use a can of air, and blow through the mousewheel opening. It might save you a purchase.

I use a Razer. It really depends on what kind of games you want to use it for and how big your hands are.

Good advise.

1) You pretty much helped eliminate ROCCAT and fk1. I need good mouse wheel as I scroll a lot and want durability. Razer DA lacks both.

2) If you don't mind me asking, which 3D printer do you use? I was looking at resin and ABS ones just for fun. Are they worth it for starting a business?

3) I tried cleaning my DA with electronic cleaner and compressed air after opening it up completely. Fixed it for a month but the issue has come right back. I no longer trust razer mice.

As far as the G100s, G402, and G502 goes.. Have you tried any of them? I know Logitech has very good warranty and not as shoddy build quality as Razer mice.

DeuceWallace. I want a mouse for some FPS and general computing. I have average size hands... If it helps you, Deathadder feels bit heavy and large for my fingertip grip. I would say any mouse smaller than DA works

I play MMO's and Battlefield; I use a Naga. Got the warranty but never had any problems that some people complain about. Feels a little small, but there were no other 12 side button mice at the time. I probably would have gotten a G600 but they weren't made until at least 2 years after I got this and people have just as many complaints about them.

There's little chance you could use this more than I do, and it's held up.

You do a claw grip? Then picking mouse becomes easy. It comes down to the type of game you play. From your list I think Roccat kone and Zowie fk1 are your best bet for general gaming. The Logitech ones are not comfortable for claw/finger-tip grips.

Razer makes great mice for general claw-grippers too, and they would get my vote. I recommend the Naga if you're an MMO guy, or the DeathAdder for other general gaming.

How is G600 for FPS and finger-tip grip? I see it has braided cable. Good price and warranty too.. hmm, I won't use the macro keys though.. :confusedshrug:

Been using this for 5+ years now, they don't make the mx518 anymore. Had to open it a few times to clean it out.

That's a cheap copy of MX500 which was the most epic gaming mouse I have owned, my MX500 died a few years ago, then I bought an Intelli mouse that only lasted roughly one year; I bought a G400 after and I'm content with it, although my PC gaming days are long gone.

Chinese mouse? Where did you get that?

Man, i gotta order a mouse soon. I have to keep slamming my left clicker on DA to not register double-clicks for a few clicks. I cannot highlight either as the clicker register randomly gives away so copy/pasting is not possible. Very annoying..:banghead: :banghead:

Bought it on sale from a local retailer for like ~20$. Its pretty well built for a budget mouse, it has a button where you can switch resolutions, works pretty as well outside of gaming. You can check some reviews on amazon

The mx518 was the best of the mx500 series. But if you bought a late issue, you might notice the USB cable's crapped out. The mx518 is not a cheap copy, but the absolute best version of that series with more durable switches and a better optical controller(which is also why logitech released different drivers for it). Trust me, I've had all of them. I can't tell you about other lines of mice, but anything in the mx518 range(including a lot of the competitors who target this culture), I know very well.
The g400 used the cheaper cable and less durable switches. Good mouse still, but oddly, the original mx518(non-2007+ revisions) still is preferred by many, including me.

1) Well, of that list, I still like the Roccat Kone Pure the best. But this is a preference thing. It is the closest to the mx5xx I have ever used in feel, and the response/switches are better. It's just that damn scroll wheel mount. I wish they released a revision that fixed it, maybe they have? I don't know.

2) There is no short advise for 3D printers. I'm in a different field, where I have been prototyping for decades, so this newer trend of 3D printing is different, and I don't completely follow everything that comes out of the maker worlds. I have my own delta style. For small things, it's okay, otherwise I just outsource. For mice things, you can pretty much print whatever. The textures are crap, even after treatment and coatings. If for whatever reason you wanted to make a mouse housing from scratch, I would still do a mold first.
Are 3D printers worthy for starting a business? Depends on what you want to do. 3D printers are very slow. VERY slow. Don't expect to sell anything in volume.

3) If you blew dust or hair around the mouse to fix it, but didn't get rid of the dust or hair, then it's going to come back(and/or you'll wind up getting more dust/hair in there over time). Unfortunately, if you have a mouse that you really like, no matter who makes it, at some point you might need to clean it a few times. Unless you just want to buy a new mouse every year, and consider that part of your normal expense. I don't know of a single mouse that is dust-proof that offers ergonomic design for a claw-grip.

I tried the G402 and G502. Logitech has good sides and bad. I wouldn't consider them any better or worse than Razer for reliability. Although, keep your eyes out for trouble models, as I said, logitech cables have gone to crap over the last 5 years. Maybe on purpose to push people into buying these wireless mice instead(I'm not a fan, it's all preference there), I have no idea why. And Logitech mice also have the dust issues as well, so if you're just frustrated with switch issues, you're not going to fix that by switching brands. You'll only fix that by getting handy with taking apart your mice and cleaning them out once every so often.

I ended up ordering G402. It looks nice and has good reviews. I found $48 appealing too. Looks like good sturdy build and fairly decent shape. Works better for fingertip grip than the Deathadder.

Only issue I see is the damn wire. It is a hard wire and drags around on the pad. Now I'm wishing I bought G502 with the nice braided wire. I may return this 402 for 502. I don't know yet. Amazon is usually good with returns :confusedshrug:

1) Well, of that list, I still like the Roccat Kone Pure the best. It's just that damn scroll wheel mount.

I had issues with the Kone's wheel. However, after I put some WD-40 on it, it worked like a charm.

I switched to a Roccat Tyon, no problem whatsoever with the scroll wheel. In fact, it might be the best one I've ever had.

That's a funny fix, especially when the bearing is not the problem, but the fixed bracket that suspends the wheel. We're talking about different problems then, because I have never had an issue with the bearing in scroll wheels from any mice, unless I did something to it.

WD40 shouldn't be used anyways for bearings. It's a temp fix at best.

I don't want to argue over this because I also had the MX500, MX518 and now the G400, guess which one went down first? The MX518 was the first to have cable issues then the kit crapped out on me. Even my old ass MX300 had better longevity. But as you mentioned almost all of their mouses suffer from USB cable crapping out.
