You made a claim that he was Lebron and then proceeded to say you know nothing about him? Good stuff.

Tbh, from what I've seen, his game never looked much like Lebron's to me.

He could do many things on the court and was also a 6'8, athletic bull... Must be where that comparison comes from.

Bron has more overall mobility (jumping, running...) but McGinnis was also pretty mobile, plus full of muscle and crazy strong. Better at hanging down-low with bigmen, better at playing PF than Lebron.
Ofc he never was all that close to someone like LBJ as an overall player and in terms of actual impact though.

To me McGinnis in the NBA was more like a Karl Malone clone at least stylistically, a lesser version, but nowhere close to like Lebrons game, not even athleticism wise.... even physically Lebron was larger (260 vs 230) and he is saying he is 6'9"....

There is not a single player you can compare Lebron to.... never seen anything close to like him... if you had to you have to go like:

A bigger and more talented/skilled Scottie Pippen.

A more athletic, more scoring skilled, more defensive Magic Johnson.

A much bigger and more defensive Oscar Robertson.

A much bigger and more passing minded Michael Jordan.

A much bigger and more talented/skilled Penny Hardaway.

But you can do that logic with any player.... like:

Lebron is a shorter, more perimeter skilled Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Lebron is a shorter, smaller, more perimeter skilled Shaquille O'Neal.

There has just not been anybody anywhere close to a player like Lebron.... he has the body of Karl Malone, the offensive versatility of Magic Johnson, the defensive versatility of Scottie Pippen and athleticism from nobody i ever seen at that size.... maybe Dominique? But he wasnt that fast... or big... Nique was like 6'7"-200 lbs....

I was aware of McGinnis before i was aware of Lebron's existance, is that enough? But just like you cant prove your statement i cant prove mine....

..and that doesnt matter at all, all you have to do is see all the McGinnis video footage out there, the stats that tell somewhat of a story and his bio.... combine it all and compare to Lebron....... its then very easy to see they were nothing alike....

I dont understand what your point is, you think he is similar to Lebron or something? Care to share an assessment on this topic besides making that naive comment?

good god...you 60s stans have no shame...Even if we accept that the talent in the NBA has been relatively equal throughout history (ie there are no weak eras)....this is still a ludicrous statement...LeBron James is a 4 time ****ing MVP with multiple rings as his teams best player and he just turned 30...one of the at worst 10 best players in the history of the sport when he retires....and you're comparing him to the likes of Gus Johnson and maurice stokes? You guys must be suffering from Alzheimers or some shit

Gus Johnson is listed at 6'6 230...LeBron was a legit 6'7.25 245...as a 18 yo rookie...

"I'm in the 250ish range, you know, a lot lighter than I've been playing at in the last few years,"

is what he said coming into this year where he lost a bunch of weight....he played most of his prime at 260+ without a doubt

Have you seen Gus in 1971 compared to 1963? He wasn't 230 anymore.

Big George was a great athlete. He was co-mvp with Dr. J. one year in the ABA. His main problem was he smoked and he smoked a lot. There wasn't much he couldn't do. He had a funky jump shot that if he had worked to improve would have moved him up the all time list. I would rank him about 80 to 85 for career and about 50 for peak.

Me and McGinnis had the same high school coach - Bill Green

Green is a legendary HS coach that coached McGinnis, Zach Randolph, Jay Edwards, James Blackmon, and hundreds of D1 players, including yours truly

Eat your heart out haters .. 3ball comes from a TOP-TIER hoops lineage (Hoosier lore)..

McGinnis piled up impressive stats but choked huge in the Final against Portland in 1977.

zero personality, like Elvin Hayes and Julius Randle, a total downer watching them thrive sometimes and totally quit out there otherwise.

SIxers were an amazing clown show, dunking and posturing and mouthing off, and always flopping when it mattered.

(and then one day they brought in Moses to win it all, then they in one week traded Moses away for nothing and traded a top pick (Brad Daugherty) for Roy Hinson in the worst pairing of trades in eternity.)

LeBron quits out there on occasion and has a personality to heighten a game (love or hate him.)

Better version of Lebron without changing teams.
