I brought my W-2s to work today and was planning on completing the process at my desk. Is it quick and easy?

yes it is ... but if lots of deductibles / real estate etc / as I have -I do everything in paper.

just old fashion/ but like to see it in paper and a working copy in hand.

I kinda thought everyone did. If you have a simple return it's a no-brainer; if you have complicated personal finances then you might want to do it by hand or take it to a respected institution to help you.

It's relatively simple, tbh, i take longer finding the right p0rn video to jerk it to than filing my taxes.

But yeah, I did mine on TurboTax. They do both state and federal for absolutely free. No fee to deposit straight to your bank account or to get a visa card sent in the mail.

It should take you around 30-45 min depending on how much info you gotta enter.

I do mine on TaxAct online & it usually takes about 30 minutes & they will deposit it directly into your Checking/Savings account in 2 weeks perhaps 3 (Typically the 2nd or 3rd Friday after filing).

Cost me $19.99 this year.

Yop.

And i actually got $2,250 back doing it on TurboTax.
So it's not bad to ship around, but I don't think TT will do ya wrong.

I may have to check out TT again next year. For some reason I jumped to Taxact years ago .

TaxAct may be just a habit of mine now ,but I seem to remember TT the Federal being free & the State had a fee at that time(?).

Also I may have thought Taxact easier to navigate for some reason?

Turbo Tax used to do federal for free and charge like $25 for state.

This year they did both for free.
But you can opt to do a more extensive return and they charge $30 for that.

I've never used TaxAct, mainly cuz I've had a good experience with TurboTax every year. And i find TT to be extremely easy to navigate, can't compare it to others tho cuz I haven't used anything else.

Used Turbo Tax because they were offering both fed and state for free. I got $1000 back, it took about 2 weeks to show up in my account.

TurboTax freedom is completely free. Try it out. I've used it for the last few years, and pay very little out of pocket for my taxes once I've finished up. I think last year I only owed about $200

This year? You must of done an upgraded version or you didn't use TurboTax. They advertised free fed and state all over their website, kinda hard to miss.

It depends on your situation

Business owners always owe

If you claim 1 or 2 a lot of times you owe.

I got a lot back cuz I claim 0 and I was a student last year.

Not everybody gets money back, a lot of people owe

Only if you're getting money taken out of your check every week.

If you're self employed or an independent contractor, you basically get paid cash at face value untaxed, and then pay your taxes at the end of the year. I prefer it this way, honestly. W-2 is different though.

Thanks

After all that, I ended up having my ex-gf's sister do it for me. Handed her the W-2's yesterday.........
