He'd fit in right about the same as he did, can't see no major changes in his style to "adjust" more to today's game, at all. He'd even probably be better suited for today's game.

Top5 power forward, most likely the best scoring PF in the league...

Dude was bulk, 6'10, great athlete, very good finisher, had a nice jumper with some range, knew how to handle the rock, could get to the line and shoot about 85% from there, solid rebounder, decent passer, not much on D but no liability...

i was thinking the same thing, his game was very PnR friendly and he had the ability to run like a wing, which translate very well in this era. Also his length and athleticism are better suited today than in the 80s (imo).

For the uninformed posters:

chambers had MAD hops. You can get other highlight dunks on youtube, i just posted this one to give you an idea of his athletic ability, this ain't no andrea bargnani.

to people questioning his white boy game:
he also won an all-star mvp in a game with magic, kareem, worthy, hakeem, moses maone, jordan, erving, mchale, dominique wilkins, larry bird and isiah...back when people actually played in this game.

True, I also think that.
His size and length combined with his leaping prowess and his ability to run the floor (also handle the rock), plus his really good finishing capability, while being a big with a jumper... Makes him better suited for today's game, not that he wasn't very good back then, as well.

Yea, Tom could get really high up there, posterized plenty of people. Most likely the GOAT caucasian dunker.

He went off in that ASG, winning MVP in his team's hometown (Seattle), playing against a bunch of legends in a time where that game was taken more seriously:

That Sonics team with Ellis, Chambers and X-Man is, imo, one of the most entertaining teams EVER... Even if they weren't winning all that much. They got to the Conference Finals that same year though (1987) pulling two major upsets.

Chambers then went to the Suns, having some great seasons as a #1 option while they were winning 50+ games, with Kevin Johnson there too.
McDaniel was slowed down by injuries, never quite reaching his full potential, still solid career though.
Dale had his peak years with the Sonics in the late 80's, very underrated player/shooter with some very underrated seasons.

It's hard to explain teams like these to people who missed out on them. They weren't particularly popular so if you didn't follow basketball closely back then (get the paper every morning and read the recap and box scores) you would have missed out on this team. No one remembers how good guys like ellis and McKey and McMillan were or even Chambers and X Man. I loved those damn teams. Thank you for that.

The guy was an all-star during the strongest period in league history specially at the forward position so I'd say he'd be an all star today as well. Like someone else said, I would take him over Bosch's soft behind any day of the week.

True.

They were a pleasant surprise in 1987 and shocked many people pulling two upsets.

They had some solid role players alongside that exciting trio... Ellis was a great shooter who could score in many ways, Chambers was a high-flying PF who got buckets, X-Man just that gritty SF, athletic with good D, also a pretty good scorer, doing damage inside and in the post.

Nope... a peak Bo was just not big enough, nor athletic enough. Guys like Tiki Barber would run all over him.

Let's be honest...Bo, Hershel Walker, Darrell Green, Christian Okoye, Eric Dickerson, and Deion...

either too small, too slow, or both.

The league past those guys up years ago...

I hope he is, if not that's just too much stupid for one post. Prime Bo would dominate the NFL, he was stronger and faster back then than any running back today.

If he's serious about Bo not being good enough physically for the NFL then Wilt = D-League.

I agree! He would be a top 5 PF in the L. His style of play fits perfect with this era. I think Tom C would be the best scoring PF in the L as well. His scoring skillset in general was one of the top 10 of all time at the PF. Historically, he fits in with guys like McAdoo and Dirk. Which is PF's who are 6'10 to 7'0 and have a small forward kind of scoring skillset.

But Tom C was a freakish athlete, which made him very unique even in comparison to Dirk and Mac. I also hope Tom C gets in the HOF. I think of all eligible players, he may be the only one with at least 20,000 points not in.

This....

Anyway...Chambers, probably best PF in the league today. He's a better all-around player than basically every PF today except Blake, IMO. Love is a better shooter but doesn't run the floor like Tom and is not as athletic. He's better than Bosh, but Bosh is really underrated imo.

This....

No, you could make an argument for top 5 though

LMA
Blake
AD
Love
Gasol (much like Duncan plays a lot of center, but is in fact a PF)
Lee (fell off cause of injury)

are all clearly better to me

all are better, more efficient, more versatile scorers (much better at creating and finishing, around the hoop, creating for a jumper or in the post whether low post like a Love or Gasol or high like AD, Blake LMA). Chambers was below avg in terms of creating his own shot or creating for others, all these guys are CLEARLY better. Great open court player, good open midrange shooter, he's kind of like how AD is now except AD is even more athletic, much better defender and rebounder.

all are better rebounders

all have more rounded games and just overall more skilled

Love: rebounding, passing, post game
AD: rebounding, defense, ball handling
Gasol: passing, post game, rebounding, defense
Blake: ball-handling, passing, rebounding
Lee: post game, passing, rebounding
LMA: rebounding, postgame

you could argue Bosh and Zbo as well

top 5 no, top ten yes
probably best? HELLLLL NAW

Nah, to me Chambers is definitely a better scorer than ALL OF THEM...Flat out...He can take you off the dribble, pull up and shoot jumpers, shoot 3's, finish strong plus pass. And no handchecking? Chambers is a bull, he's very aggressive, he's going to draw free throws..And he's quicker than all of those guys except for AD...Ill give you the rebounding but imo, he would just be a more dominant player than those guys. I mean he had seasons where he was pretty unstoppable even then. And this is when PF's played defense. He's basically your prototypical stretch 4 and stretch 4's strive today. He strived back when PF's were still Power Forwards.
