He's not only a good commentator, but he was a very good NBA player during his prime. He could have been a 2x NBA Finals MVP.

He was like the Manu Ginobili for the Celtics in the 1960's. Manu almost won the finals MVP in 2005.

Hopefully not the Celtics -their commentators are probably the worst in the entire league. I remember thinking the Blazers commentators were bad, then I got NBA league pass and holy sh1t....

dont know much about him as a player, only as an announcer. dude is the worst homer ive ever heard. when i had league pass for a few years, i heard all the home town announcers and tommy was by far the worst. his homerism is so bad, its like satire...but real. eventually i just took it as satire and that made me start enjoying his ridiculous commentary.

Ack-Ack, dude was shooting all day long, very trigger happy... Pretty good player though, I've heard, good contributor on 8 championship squads. Also won 2 as a coach, even COY.

As a commentator, yea, dude's one of the biggest homers... Funny and entertaining plenty of time also though.

He's horrendous as a commentator. He didn't coach that long and he's going in to the HoF as a coach..wth. Sure the Celtics won 2 championships under him and his winning percentage was good. But a hall of fame coach..k.

In the 80s and 90s, he was a terrific color analyst. Then he got old, his wife got sick and passed right before his eyes and he just decided to give approximately zero f*cks from then on. Now he's got a shtick and poor Mike Gorman is stuck going for the ride until Tommy keels over.
