This team might sound better on paper, but they still aren't contenders. This team is going to be horrendous on the defensive end. If they do make the playoffs they will face the same problem they faced last year they stink in the half court.

Defence got worse? Jackson is an awful defender which was amplified by his poor attitude and even though Perkins was a smart defensive player he had next to no quickness to make use of it.

Imagine how much better Durant must be than LeBron if he gets this non contending team to the WCSF or even WCF

Their half court issues are a coaching issue (too many isos), not a player personnel issue.

None of the new guys can play defense either.

This.

The only thing Perkins was defending was post ups.

He was literally useless in every other aspect of basketball.

Lol you guys laughed when I said the Miami Heat would stink this year.

they might have gotten slightly worse on D, but not by a meaningful margin considering how bad Reggie was, Kanter is still young and can develop into a solid one

They won big time on offense though.

Not true

Perkins is a terrific perimeter defender for his position. Whenever he gets into a mismatch with a quicker guard, he sticks to him like glue. He also sets excellent screens.

This team is going to miss Perkins' defensive presence, but altogether they have gotten better. I still think ScottyISO will cost them any chance at rings.

That was his best asset to Durant and westbrook

So we traded guys who couldnt play defense and were stinking it up on the offensive end to guys who still arent good defensively but fit in well offensively with the Thunder.

Sounds like an upgrade to me.

This is simply not true anymore, I remember this being said about him a lot but this was probably more common in his Celtic/pre acl injury days. If you watch him now he simply has next to no foot speed and he is awful on rotations and closing out because of it, he is really only useful as a post up defender.

Novack and Singler can easily be taken out of games especially in the playoffs.

Implying that they'll even be getting PT in the playoffs. You're too shook, brah. Just stop.

Not saying OKC is championship bound but no team gets worse by offing Perkins. The guy is a total bag of ass sh1t...

As a Bulls fan who watched every Augustin game after he signed on....

He is a good shooter and decent facilitator.

But know this. He will be worse on defense based off size. He gets posted by bigger guards in the playoffs when teams exploit matchups.

That will be a key for OKC's bench, don't let DJ get abused.

Reggie might of been a bad defender but DJ is a midget.

I'm kinda not surprised Utah gave up Kanter, he got drafted a while ago and still hasn't progressed. OKC got what they were looking for though, a guy who can post up and get some points in the paint.

Lets be honest....OKC has never been known for their defense...even the year they made it to the finals they were lackluster on the defensive side. They have always been a team that has hanged their hat on out-scoring the opposing team. Hell thats most of the western conference teams tho outside of spurs, grizz and now the warriors.

The thunders main goal it seems is to just get into the playoffs and make sure everybody is healthy....they still have two unguardable perimeter players and thats not changing anytime soon. If they can just get ibaka more involved offensively and move him to the five the thunder would be much better but they refuse to look at ibaka as anything other than a stretch four which has and will always be the thunders detriment!
