I just looked it up. Her brother is Julian Newman 12 years old averaging 20/10/5 on a high school varsity team against 17/18 year olds. Kids these days man. Ball is life

She averages 31 points, 10 assists & 6.2 steals per game playing for her high school team.

Yeah, a 5th grader doing that is kinda ridiculous.

Man looking through the YouTube comments on that video shows n*ggas really do talk more than bitches these days. F*cking putting down a little 10 year old girl, saying she'd get swatted constantly if she played against them (like dude on the first page said.) It's really sad.

lost childhood imo. Dumb parents working their kid to death, stunting his physical growth. Probably he gonna end up a 5'7 guard who won't even sniff the league.

Playing too much ball is going to make you short

Maybe shooting too many free throws makes you short too :facepalm

i remember going to watch my little sister's 5th grade basketball game. it was the worst display of basketball ive ever seen. all it was was 10 girls running toward the ball, bump into each other and all fall in unison.

this girl, relative to normal 5th grade girls basketball, is god tier.

Watched his video too. Crazy. The kid has a chronic case of compulsive crossovers though. If you cross somebody up and don't take advantage of it did you really do anything?

Unfortunately, no one really cares about women's basketball outside of the high school or college campus. Even if she makes it to the WNBA, the best players are not making bank. They might make more than you or I, but they are not millionaires. Diane Taurasi is basically the best player and she made big news recently by sitting out this season because the team that is paying her $1 million overseas wanted her to. I'm sure she makes a lot less in the WNBA. It's a weird situation, but the people that pay you more are the bosses you don't want getting rid of you.

So yes, the girl is good for her age but WNBA is not some lucrative future if she just wants to get paid. Maybe she loves basketball, and in that case she gets paid to do something she loves? That's not a bad job.

I know if I got paid $500K, I would be willing to play in Alaska  If only I was a foot taller

Yep...PALMING the ball on EVERY dribble.

A 5-8 David Thompson was doing that in 8th grade in the 60's...

http://www.masslive.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/07/hall_of_famer_david_thompson_r.html

Blessed with amazing athletic ability that included a vertical leap of 44 inches, Thompson said he could already dunk a basketball when he was in eighth grade and all of 5-foot-8.

Julian Newman (the brother) was on Conan in 2011. He was second in the COUNTRY in ASSISTS at 11 years old, and that's for all varsity players.

True but I'm not gonna question anybody averaging 20/10 in highschool. He's 12, he's got plenty of time to grow in that department.

At 6 years old I already knew what palming, traveling, and carrying were. Alas, today's generation watches the Lavines palming the ball on every dribble, and since the NBA allows it, it must be ok.

I see an NBA in the future in which there will be no dribbling at all.

I agree with you that palming rules now are too lenient. But in the same context do you really wanna see more of that robotic dribbling they did in the 60's? :biggums: :hammerhead:

There is a happy medium between overly strict and the ridiculous NBA laxness today. I'm with Laz in wondering if there will even be dribbling in 20 years time.

She balls but it's wack they let her shed people with her off arm like she's in the NBA. lol.

that high arcing shot that she banked in was pretty nice. I guess we'll see what happens. I would hope that in women's bball having immense skill will get you in no matter how your grow, but that may not be true.

The best female players will be millionaires easily by the time she is 18.

Female basketball is growing very fast worldwide, maybe the average NBA fan in USA doesn't know this.

Griner got $600k in China for 4 months work last year.

Plus $1m from Nike.
