View Full Version : Suns going hard at Dragic in press conference

Lon Babby specifically called out Dragic and said that his comments were wrong, unacceptable and that a team will never be able to make every player completely happy but that ultimately they felt like they got better as a whole. He basically said that this team is going to make various moves based on what the front office is looking to do and if "Dragic doesn't like that, then tough."
He said that the Suns had approach Dragic and his agent about a month ago and tried to gauge his interest in returning and that both Dragic and his agent were completely noncommital and didn't give them any answer, one way or another until a few days ago.
McDonough followed up and said "we're looking for team first guys, not guys who are more concerned about "I, me or mine." "We're trying to build a core with the goal of winning championship, the best players get that."
McDonough also said:
"I didn't see any list, and we really didn't care if we were going to send Goran to the team he most wanted to go or to the team he least wanted to go, we were going to do what is best for the Phoenix Suns. After he told us he didn't want to be here anymore, we began to look for the best deal possible and considering the manner he and his representatives acted", that the Suns couldn't have cared less about any list.
I've listened to a lot of press conferences before but don't normally see teams go in on a player like this.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the only teams Dragic wanted to be traded to party/famous cities?
Wouldn't surprise me that he's not a true team player/winner.
Disgusting.

I don't know if I'd go that far. Two of them were the 2 biggest markets and Miami has been run well by Riley for decades
I never got the feeling Dragic was a bad guy. I think he felt disrespected by the Thomas signing in the summer and the big deal Bledsoe got.
I could be totally wrong though.
Edit: Lol you got with the white text!

Babby made it sound like Dragic has been complaining for the better part of 2 years and wanted to be the main star on the roster.

I gotta tell you Pej, I'm not gonna take what he said too heavily because he is too close to the situation. It all sounds personal to me.

My opinion of Dragic has taken a little dip in the last month. If he performs well, most will forget though.

Dragic is a selfish cancer. He went from being most underrated player to most overrated in a 2 year span.

Oh, the Suns organization is POed, no doubt about that, they both sounded very unhappy about the way Dragic and his agent went about things over the past week.
If what Babby said was true, that they spent the better part of a month trying to get a straight answer out of Dragic on whether he wanted to stay or not and he didn't give them one until a couple days before the trade deadline, along with leaking everything to the media to kill their leverage in their trade, I can certainly understand why.

Yeah, glad he didn't make the all-star team last year.

The verdict is not out he might not be a winner... but he's better than basically everyone on the Suns roster. Let's not act like signing Thomas was not some real stupid shit.
Hopefully his pouting explains his average play this season

didn't everyone lose some confidence in the Suns management when they signed I.Thomas?
Its almost the same thing when the Wolves kept drafting Pg after Pg. Didn't make sense.

Babby should just shut up. Dragic was the best playmaker they had, he was the heart of the team and by far their most valuable piece last year. He played his way into big money, then they let Bledsoe bitch and moan all off season to leverage them into a huge contract and then hire another point guard to split time with them. Then they take the ball out of his hands and try to make him a spot up shooter. If anything, the Suns disrespected the guy. What did they think, he was just going to sit around and play for peanuts while deferring to an unproven player coming off multiple injuries that was rewarded with a major contract?

the Suns FO have been garbage for a long time. this is the same organization that tried to change their style to slow down only to fail miserably then switch it back up to tempo halfway thru the season. same organization that geared up for the season with 3 starting caliber PG's  ...and they have the nerve to blame Goran who has as much talent as anyone in the league for crying about his touches/shots?
considering every team willing to trade with the Suns was contingent on Goran re-signing with them his opinion on where he goes meant more than the Suns.
Suns have the shittiest FO behind the 76'ers.

Because we never had a point guard...and we finally developed a PG years later in Rubio. Look at the players the Wolves drafted at PG. Marcus Taylor, Blake Stepp, Mario Chalmers(traded on draft day), Ty Lawson(traded on draft day), Ricky Rubio, Johnny Flynn, Trey Burke(traded on draft day), Lorenzo Brown. Traded Brandon Roy for Randy Foye. Maybe just bad decisions on who to draft and trade, but we've needed a point guard for a long time.

THIS. ****ING THIS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE CAN'T SEE THIS.
Suns SCREWED their best player and expected him to take it in the ass while a guy who's not even 60% the player he is dominates the ball and runs every possession in the 4th.

lol bledsoe, overrated as hell statpadder.
elite player for a middle of the pack team, puts up stats but doesn't win.... a win-win for a cheap front office.
