I don't expect him to be healthy in that year either. His body is obviously failing him.

A James Harden retirement thread would already have 10 pages.

if the Lakers get Dragic and Okafor it won't be his last year, he's just saying that because the future looks bleak right now, but if has a legitimate shot at another championship he wont hang em up, no way.

I hope he can stay healthy and have a successful retirement tour even if he is that effective (a la Derek Jeter).

some of you guys are lame as ****. a legend and top player off all time is close to retirement and you still want to talk shit

anyway, the league won't be the same without him. it'll be crazy imagining the league without guys like kobe, duncan, kg, dirk, etc.

Why can't you people just learn to appreciate a great career.

You people need to grow up.

$25 million extra for the Lakers to spend on getting quality players. Dude's been sucking the organization dry for years with his old man play.

This is actually somewhat accurate. He continued to put up stats in later seasons, but at what cost?
If he had retired after that 2010 championship and gone out on top he would be undisputed top 10 all time. Now that spot isn't looking so secure with the embarrassing way he is ending his career.

Pretty sure the same person is posting from multiple accounts in here. ****ing lames.

Anyway, top 5 of all time he'll be recognized as once he retires. :applause:

At least LBJ shit the bed in the Finals instead of the first round.

Let us try this in crayon shall we? How far did Mr. Faber ever get without at least an 18-8 player in his front court in the seasons in which he had the luxury? Please also enlighten us about playoffs.

Must be sweet to win a title on 6-24 shooting as "the "Manba," with 21 free throws for your squad, and 8 point from the charity stripe in the fourth for yourself alone, but earned, not given I'd imagine.

what kind of shit is this, now having an 18 & 8 player as your 2nd option invalidates what you do?

you're reaching so hard

Brans 3rd option is currently putting up 17 & 10 and he still needs more help

next..

...of jokes about how sad it'd be for him to retire without a ring after a career spent choking in the playoffs.

Why would there need to be a press conference to announce when he will retire? Looks like next year will be a big Kobe love fest.

He'll hold a press conference when he actually retires like all athletes do. I've never heard of any athlete announcing they were going to retire a year later. Not sure, could be wrong. What did Derek Jeter do?

They do it to everyone. Some people fade faster. Kobe was still jacking mad shots so he stayed in the spotlight. The sports fan is not very loyal. Dudes, at the very least, are waiting until people fail to talk shit.

But the fact that these guys can stay in the NBA after that many seasons is great, to me. I can actually cheer for just about anyone (including Kobe) when they become broken down because they become the underdog. My basketball loyalties are making haters/front running fans mad.
