Which players would you rather add to your current roster? I just got to thinking that if Klay Thompson just got that big deal then Leonard sure is hell is going to get something similar after winning Finals MVP.
I'm taking Kawhi. This guy would get offered is going to get offered max money by someone.

Klay easy.
Imagine Paul feeding him, and Klay's defense on the wings
Paul - JJ - Klay - Blake - DJ
Austin Curry - JCraw - Barnes - BBD - Hawes

Neither are franchise players, but Kawhi's proved it in the Playoffs, three times.
So him.

probably Klay, elite shooters who can also defend adequately are rare.

Klay is better than him
Lebron James is better than both but Leonard shut down Lebron. So it really doesn't matter now does it? It matters which player helps you win.

Klay is a good defender but he is not lockdown like Kawhi can be.
I'm taking the Finals MVP.

I have nothing to really base this on but I feel like Kawhi has another level to his game, whereas I think Klay is just gonna keep refining what he's doing right now. Kawhi very easily could plateau and become nothing more than an elite defender and athletic wing on offense..but I see so much more for his future.

I think there is more to come too. My thing about players like Leonard is that even if the offense isn't working you know the guy is going to do little things that win you games. So many players play well only when their offensive game is going well. If that isn't happening then they sulk. Leonard is useful at all times of the game.

Kawhi's defense is rare. I'd probably take him but wouldn't be mad with either.

When did this happen? I would take klay on spurs over kawhi.

you can give someone like Leonard the 5-6 years deal, and without it being the max and he'll most likely take it.
you CAN give someone like Thompson the 5-6 years deal, but with that in mind, would you want to offer the max?
enter team option/player option etc.

lol 3 times. :lol
Tony Parker has proven more than that.
Have some perspective. Kawhi Leonard scored 9 points in Game 1 and his team won by 15.
Kawhi is obviously better than him, but Danny Green would also have a FMVP if the 2013 series had ended in 5 games.

The difference on the defensive side of the ball between these two is much, much smaller than the difference on the offensive side of the ball.

Klay Thompson is much more reliable to create his own shot, and is a much bigger offensive threat in general. Kawhi might be a better defender, especially with that wingspan and giant hands, but I still consider Klay to be the more complete overall player.

Yea this. Much more reliable doesn't even do well to describe it lol. Klay is worlds better right now on offense, but then again you can throw Kawhi to gaurd all 5 positions in this new NBA

Klay Thompson pretty easily. Leonard is one of the most overrated players in recent history

I'm trying to think of possible teams where I'd take Kawhi over Thompson, and the only choice I can think of is the Spurs... and even that's debatable, but I just think Kawhi fits into that system so well. Any teams you guys can think of where Kawhi would be a better fit than Klay?

Clippers would take Kawhi as they have no small forward.

Clippers. Klay is obviously better than Redick, but Redick is a terrific shooter and solid SG in this league. Whereas the Clips have a HUGE hole at the 3, and Kawhi would be a massive upgrade on both ends. He'd really complete that team, playing the role of a super glue guy. I'd take CP-Redick-Kawhi-Blake-DJ over CP-Klay-Barnes-Blake-DJ.
edit: Navy beat me. Suck my dick Navy.

Nah, we'd take Klay and slide him to the three.
Nah, we'd take Klay and slide him to the three.
Im not sure if I would count on Klay to consistently guard the 3.....
Clippers offense firepower is already top tier.

I keep hearing about this "next level" for Kawhi Leonard. Until I see it, give me Klay Thompson.
By the way, Kawhi is only like 18 months younger than Klay.

Kawhi Leonard is offensively inept.

I'd definitely take Kawhi on the Clippers. Clippers have enough weapons, but lack a strong defensive wing. Right now Matt Barnes is manning that role, and while he's decent Kawhi would be a MAJOR upgrade.
Maybe Portland, because that offense gets carried by LA, Lillard, and matthews. And this one is debatable as to whether Kawhi would be an upgrade over Batum.
I'd definitely take Kawhi over Klay on Washington. They have that gaurd tandem already. This team for sure could use Kawhi to fill the role Ariza used to have.
I'd take Kawhi on Dallas and the Hawks as well, personal preference again because of all the weapons already.
Thing is these two guys would improve every team they're on.
