JR Smith, Shumpert, Tyson Chandler, Amar'e and Beno Udrih are all contributing on contending teams.
Melo couldnt even get them into the playoffs *IN THE EAST* despite having one of his best seasons last year.
His style of play is not contributing to winning.
I still have no idea why STAT had to take a backseat for Melo, when he was the only real supertstar on the team.
Fans in Dallas know that STAT was the better player from going up against both.
STAT was devastating, i doubt anybody was particularly scared of Melo in the West.
:banghead:
Stop. The Knicks are a terrible and were terrible last year.
Carmelo has only missed the playoffs once in his career. Twice if you count this year, and suddenly he's a loser for not making the playoffs? At least call him a playoff loser as he has never been to the finals. But not making the playoffs? Clearly he's shown more than enough to say that he is capable of making it there.
Just a garbage toxic environment. Very few people could drag this band of misfits anywhere.

STAT wouldn't last 40 games if he had to play 36 minutes.

I was pointing out how overrated hero ball players like melo have been since like 2008, and everyone said I was just trolling, trying to be contrarian, blah blah blah. Now it's finally become the norm to call out one dimensional ball hogs who dont impact the game at a significant level.
God damn Im ahead of my time :pimp:

this
melo gets unnecessary criticism.
he has respect from his peers that most people don't understand.
give him a break
he could've won a ship in 09 if kobe didn't whoop denver

lol melo is terrible. The only difference from the 2013 knicks and the 2014 was jason kidd. Its clearly evident kidd had the biggest impact on the team taking them from a 2nd seed to a 9th. Now jr, shumpert, amare all somehow seem to be playing better. I wonder why?

i'd say he gets unnecessary praise just as well.
for instance, he gets called the best scorer in the game quite often.
i think he's clearly a step below lebron and durant in scoring, let alone as an offensive player.

that's what i'm saying, homes.
these guys are good enough too play for title contenders. they are proving it right now.
yet, with carmelo as their leader/best player they won 37 games in the lousy east.

Melo to me is a rare case of a guy who turned from a winner into a loser later in his career. Like very recently.
Phil isn't in NYC to win first. Money first.
Melo decisions this summer were money first even if there is a small piece of me that credits him for not running from NY even though he should have.

Had a better chance of winning and creating a legacy in Chicago.

It's funny how people talk about turning down 40 million dollars is easy. I bet half the people on this board would be pissed turning down 40 dollars.

Typical NY attitude: No patience. That's why we never have re-built.
STAT was so devastating, Phoenix just had to let him go. He had 1 good run the first year, until the injuries woke back up. Has NEVER been the same since. "Matador D". Ever hear that phrase?
The way you word it, you would think we gave away a championship team this year. Please....

...and I'm saying that Melo would be a bigger story winning 1 ship in NY than 3 in Chicago. This and the money are the 2 reasons Melo stayed IMO. He'd never measure up to MJ in the Windy City.
....plus, all the Bulls fans hate him, anyways! :D

This would be obvious if he wasn't such a big time scorer, but it confuses people who seemingly have focused on scoring as the most important part of basketball.
