"Since his midseason trade from the Celtics to the Mavericks, Rondo has started working with Holger Geschwindner, the shooting guru responsible for the success of one of his new teammates—Dirk Nowitzki, one of the greatest shooters in the history of the game.

From ESPNDallas.com’s Tim MacMahon:

“If you want to work with Holger, now is the time,” Nowitzki told Rondo, mentioning that Rondo would be sidelined another week to 10 days due to facial fractures. “You’re more than welcome.”

As Nowitzki recalled the moment, he added: “And Holger obviously loves challenges in his life.”

Rondo’s unconventional, ineffective shooting stroke certainly represents a challenge. It’s always been the biggest flaw in the four-time All-Star’s game. That poor touch from the perimeter and midrange is the reason one of the NBA’s premier playmakers is an awkward fit in the Mavs’ free-flowing offense.

Nothing. He already worked with Mark Price and was shooting respectably from mid-range pre-injury.

The ability to make 60% FT and shoot ok from the elbow is gone because he needs to see a sports psychologist not a shooting coach.

I mean he can't even hit a third of his FT.

he was a very good midrange shooter before his injury.

I just think he's mentally and physically shot after he did his ACL

Dragic will turn 29 soon as well, Rondo entered the league 2 seasons before him though.

pre injury it looked like his shooting was respectable from midrange. IIRC he was actually one of the better shooting PG's from midrange in 2012 to his injury. Would have preferred him not to tinker with his mechanics as much as he did and remained working on being more of a set shooter but it seemed like every season he would focus on one thing and disregard the improvement he made the prior season.

2nd season was more of a set shooter from 18 ft
3rd season attempted to extend that to corner 3's

beyond attempted more pull up and off the dribble shots

he has worked with multiple coaches in all that time
