View Full Version : One player right now to start your franchise

Let's say you're allowed to select any player in the NBA right now to start your new franchise. Who do you pick?

Equal 1st/2nd: LeBron James / James Harden - Playmaking scorers that can lead a team and play 1on5 basketball. LeBron is the slightly better overall player but Harden gets a few bonus points for being only 25, compared to LeBron's 30.

3rd: Kevin Durant - Still young (26), can score from any position, can easily average 30 a night. Only downside is he's not a dribbling playmaker like LeBron and Harden. Then again, if he had a point guard facilitator he wouldn't really need to be this. Can be a bit passive at times, unlike Harden, but if he was the sole superstar on his team I think he would thrive and go off for big 4th quarters on his own.

4th: Russell Westbrook - Same age as Durant. Can drive, pass, shoot. Better driver than Durant but not as good a shooter. Can't facilitate as well as LeBron and Harden. If given his own team he could probably put up Iverson 2.0 numbers, but I don't know if he's consistent enough to lead a team to a 'chip on his own.

5th: Anthony Davis - He's younger than the other guys (21) and shows signs of being the total package offensively and defensively. Only drawback is this is a guard's league and big men don't have the same kind of dominance all the time, even with Davis' unique skill set.

6th: Steph Curry - Great shooter, passer, driver but a bit soft on defense. Not sure if he has the maturity yet to lead a team on his own.

The fact that you would take 30 year old Bron over any other player to start your franchise proves to me that you're not a smart person.

Not true at all. Curry is a very good defender.

So Westbrook can't facilitate as well as Lebron/Harden but he is averaging more assists and less turnovers than both. Sounds legit.

If I wanted to start a franchise and move forward it would be Anthony Davis or Andrew Wiggins.

If I wanted to start a franchise and win this year it'd be LeBron or KD

Durant. He's actually an underrated playmaker.

1. Anthony Davis
2. Kevin Durant

After that I could see arguments for Harden, Curry, Westbrook.

I believe OP means the player's current age as well, which LeBron is 30. I don't think you want to start a franchise with a 30 year old as your cornerstone do you?

Read the title before typing, poindexter.

You're not taking a 30 year old Bron over Davis or KD at this point. You just can't. You must be mildly retarded if you do.

Umm...I'm still taking Lebron. I have at least 7-8 more years of Lebron playing at a decently/pretty high level. I still like my chances of winning a championship in that span. So yes I'm taking the next 7-8 years of Lebron over the next 10-15 years of KD/AD. I still like Lebron's chances the most. He has the biggest on his teams success out of those 3.

Switch Lebron and AD right now you telling me the Pelicans wouldn't have a much better record? I mean, they have a decent record, 2 games over .500.

LeBron will not be playing at a high level at 37/38, dude. :facepalm Please tell me you're ****ing with me.

You think current LeBron would make this Pelicans team better instead of Davis? :oldlol: Do you ever watch them play? Davis literally does everything for them.

Tyreke
Gordon
LeBron
Ryan Anderson
Omer Asik

Yeah dude, he's not gonna do anything more than what Davis is doing right now. I'm honestly sorry to break it to you.

AD all the way! if i get to be GM, i'd pick AD. then i'd build a better roster around him. not this pathetic collection of PGs that NO has that can't get the ball to him.

Lebron will be an average player within 3 years, unless he keeps juicing

As much as I'd love to say AD, its KD. He's proven himself as a top 15-20 already IMO.

AD has that potential but he isn't there yet. And who knows he ever really will.
