Rondo is an assist whore cancer. So happy we finally got rid of em. I told my friends that traded for rondo would be a huge mistake for DAL. He's stinking up their offense with his tendency to be an offensive liability. Glad he's someone else's problem now.

Rondo has been dreadful. I really can't believe he's been this bad. We needed to make a move, but we clearly made the wrong one.

Well, honestly, all he had to do was be an upgrade over Jameer Nelson. Which sadly, he isn't...
I mean...if he was actually demonstrably better than Jameer Nelson...we actually would be contenders.
I can admit that I was wrong, but damn...not like the expectations were high.
Literally it was...."be like 10 to 20 percent better than Jameer Nelson...and Mavs will be legit contender"
But he can't even do that.:facepalm

And this is a bad thing for Boston fans? wouldnt appearing like he has higher value be better for us I mean he only had half a year on this contract and we'd either have to pay him or get nothing; and with the way he's lowering his value in a contract year.. Might come back cheap. But watching Isaiah Thomas so far, that guy was a steal.

Hindsight is 20/20 and it may be too early to "gloat", but I always thought Rondo was not a good fit for Mavs.
They're offence when run correctly is a thing of beauty. Based on spacing, outside shooting, up-tempo and premium ball movement. Sadly all things Rondo's game does not compliment.

Plays in one system for 8.5 years.
Comes off of an ACL tear.
Traded to a new team, midseason, and the trade decimates their bench.
Gets his face kicked in.
It's only been 20 games.
The Mavs weren't going anywhere anyway.
Parsons sucks and is making more than Rondo.
And it's not like they restructured their offense for him. They plugged him into a place where he's less effective.

Devin Harris has been one of the most underrated guards in the NBA a long time, I said they should have just started him and instead of trading away Jameer and Wright for anther PG would have been better off going after a PF/C who can defend.
Jefferson and Charlie and even Amare have all stepped up as well.
What a shocker. Where are the "Rondo best PG when healthy" warriors? Where are the "MAVS are a clear contender now" people? Where's Rondo's winner mentality?
Another proof this site is hosting some of the dumbest creatures on earth.

The more I think of it, Danny Ainge is actually a brilliant GM.
- Got the Big 3 together and won a title in 2008
- Traded ancient Garnett & Pierce for Brooklyn's upcoming future
- Traded mediocre Perkins for J. Green then traded Green for a First Round pick
- Traded overrated Rondo for a bunch of assets
Boston has a very nice future if they make the right draft picks.

Rondo has always been an immature punk. Dude likes his assists and pads the shit out of them. Probably mad that Rick won't let him.
@ProfessorMurder, Parsons is a much better player than Rondo.
Pointguard
02-25-2015, 03:41 AM
The worst news in all of this is that he sulks for long periods of time. Even when healthy he is a player that likes to know where his players are. So without a training camp, he isn't going to a pass around the perimeter team and fit in. I thought it might be a clash of styles when I heard about it. It obviously is. Remember he came up under Pierce, Allen and KG and they couldn't mold him.
It wouldn't surprise me if there is a buy out situation within two weeks. I wonder if the Bulls bite.

What surprises me is the amount of Dallas fans who still love this trade ("he brings good defense, that's all we need!")
Like you said, he's been dreadful, and he's the opposite of what a team-oriented player should be (and he's a Point Guard).

I still love Rondo but it is clear that he is not at his best on the Mavs. He seems to be playing within a system that does not allow him to play to his strengths. His stats have gone to shit and he just is not able to play freely.
I think his freethrow shooting is mostly psychological. He's not happy where he is and shows his discontent by sucking horribly at the line.
Hope he ends up in a good place. As someone mentioned, Chicago would be cool. I'm sure he has an understanding with Thibs.

Man, that video didn't look good.
Rondo has to know his place. He's come to a new team, can't be barking back at the coach like that when you're playing like shit.
Maybe Rondo is hard to handle? I didn't believe it at first, but maybe Rondo doesn't listen to coaches. After all, Doc was a player pleaser, he wouldn't of ruffled Rondo's feathers at all.

ive said from the beginning of the trade rumours that rondo wont make us better on or off the court.
rondo is frustrated that he isnt the same since his injury. and this frustration can be seen on and off the court

Rondo was born in the wrong era.
After he lost the ability to attack the basket at will and to hit his midrange shot, it has become obvious.
This era is all about shooting ability, driving ability and ball movement.

Rondo is...
...dealing with an achilles injury.
...recovering from a broken face.
...playing with a guard he doesn't fit with.
...blessed with a really bad bench.
...trying to get over his mental block with FT.
...still learning how to play post-surgery.
This shit happens. Carlisle and Rondo will be fine together. Rondo is a mess right now, but if Rondo gets healthier, he's going to help the Mavs in the playoffs.
The Mavs don't have much of a choice.

True, the big hands theory is absurd. There's no scientific proof to sustain it, and we have countless examples of big handed players who happened to shoot very well. Hell, look at Kawhi and that's enough.

you don't need scientific proof you just need to look at him. Rondo is like a square 6 foot with the hands of a 7 footer. While his hands make him the most gifted passer in the league, and his vision allows him phenomenal reading of the game, his hands are also the reason why his shooting is spotchy.
Its just obvious when you watch him shoot. Keep in mind he also has a 6'11 wingspan, that is ****ing absurd for someone of his height and small frame yet its also the reason why he is such a good defender. A double edged sword.
Essentially, when he shoots there is so much potential for error or variation in his shot because he has so much leverage in his elbow (long arms), his wrist and then his fingers. People tell themselves he just sucks at shooting because he has mental issues but the reality is his shot just isn't smooth and never will be, there is a massive genetic component to ones ability to become a knock down shooter and it largely comes down to the fluidity in ones motion, which in Rondo's case is hindered by his very unique proportions.

The fact alone that we don't play Nelson improved the Mavs.
Give Rondo 15 minutes off the bench, maybe he can slow down guys like Harden or Lilliard for some minutes. If he still bitches around, goodbye next summer.

When he was in Boston, he always elevated his game in the playoffs (once he became an elite PG). And I'm not just talking about his stats. He controlled and effected many playoff games with his play on both ends of the floor. I'd wait to see what he does in the playoffs before judging his tenure in Dallas.

Not sure if you're trolling, but you just said he's a top 3 point guard still. Uhhh, no. And you talk about people knowing ball? This has nothing to do with basketball and everything to do with the group of guys that play together and the team and organization and how Rondo has handled himself.

There's a difference between being competitive, and a cancer. Fighting with coaches, disrespecting them, fighting with teammates in actual games. Rajon Rondo is cancerous, and there's time I don't understand why more don't view Russell Westbrook in a similar light. The risk / reward value isn't equal for some of these dudes.

Probably has something to do with his coaches trusting him and his teammates following his lead and getting energized. Watch OKC since the trades, everyone is playing with fire and sharing the ball. Even when on the bench Westbrook is celebrating everyone's baskets or tough plays, they all love him. Reggie was the cancer in that locker room.
