FWIW, there are reports from surgeons, Bulls insiders, etc saying that this tear is far less serious than his first meniscus injury, and that he might get it trimmed/removed instead of repaired, which would also let him return this year. And because it's the medial and not lateral the long-term effects might not be as severe like it was for Wade. Also saying that meniscus problems are common after you tear it, and that he was probably dealing with pain/discomfort all year...could be an explanation for his extreme up and down inconsistent play. If he gets it trimmed/removed he'd be pain-free going forward and there'd be no risk of re-injury (nothing to injure). All in all it's still not good obviously but I don't think it's a career death sentence like original reactions indicated.
What's the difference between removing it and repairing it?

iirc, removing it is better short term worse long term...repairing is the opposite...

That's some positive information there. Thanks for that Milbucks
I hope Rose makes the right decision for the team and comes back. After all that has happened before and the importance of playing this year, he better not sit out.
If he decides to sit out the year based on this information, I won't defend him anymore.

As much as it is physical, I feel he will struggle mentally even more. He was not willing to play before even with medical clearance .
We have trashed the medical clearance thing here the last two days. They cleared him twice before the ACL and he questioned them. I was telling you this in 2012! I made several references on these boards about Rose cutting out dunks long before the ACL gave out. They were obviously wrong three times since then. 5 times they cleared him for more damage.
5 times wrong and you still are saying its mental? When does common sense kick in for you? After the 9th time?

Is the thread where people pretend they are upset that he got injured? Hilarious how fake people are on this planet.

Yes, but after its injured the second time there is generally no way to repair it and it is just removed.
Wade had his removed while he was still at Marquette so in a vacuum the injury isn't the end of the world. But given his history, that wouldn't be a fair expectation.
Remember, he is a very physical player with a lot of explosive movements. And rather than play on the balls of his feet where the foot absorbs much of the pounding, he lands on his heels where the impact shoots up to his knees. He is going to have to remake the way he runs, etc.
He is still young and his explosion is still there. His body is the limiting factor and no one knows how this is going to play out.
