Would any of us appreciate it if our player went the way Rose apparently has?

I loathe the Bulls as a team, and Rose is part of the team. I root against Durant and the Thunder, Kobe too, and the Spurs because they disrupt "my player's" legacy. I am a Lebron stan obv., but the comments on Rose tonight are pathetic. The NBA is better with Rose, especially if he's at least approaching his potential, and injuries have robbed him of that, maybe forever. If you can't understand that we as fans are robbed, and that our loss is nothing compared to his loss (hopefully not), then it is worse than trolling. It's a disgrace.

It's pathetic what I've seen posted tonight regarding Rose. I like this board, and there are some great posters and world-class trolls, but seriously, have some appreciation for the players and sport that makes ISH possible.

OK, I'm done.

Rose has made over 300 million in his NBA career(including endorsements), I feel nothing for him. I feel bad for players that are injured early in their career and end up losing millions upon millions. At the end of the day, Derrick Rose will be fine. I'm pretty sure 99% of players would rather have 100 million in the bank and have their career derailed than end up with a great legacy and flat broke.

The only logical counterpoint really, but I think deep down, you appreciate great basketball players, and we were potentially robbed. For example, KD is a generational player and my favorite player's contemporary, but I am worried about him and his foot (even though it may be minor) although he is a threat to my ideal fan scenario. That is all I am saying.

It's unfortunate for basketball because a healthy 2011 probably makes Chicago a top 5 team in the league, but as for Rose himself? Meh, he's set for life at the age of 26. He'll be fine.

No worries.

See how you feel if Lebron got injured now or the year after winning his first ring.

There is NEVER a good time to lose a player of Rose's calibre. F.cking dips.hit

Joyners probably not the right guy to ask that question to. Let's face it. Half of ISHers would be celebrating LeBron getting a major career ending injury.... I'm not sure if you, poido, would be in that crowd celebrating. I'd like to think not, but I don't know for certain.

Either way, it sucks about Rose. At this point, it just seems like it keeps piling on. I feel like we're being robbed of another great athlete, much like T-Mac or Penny. People can say "don't feed bad for him, he's making 30 mil" or whatever but these guys are competitors. They want to play, and I doubt they think "Damn I just tore my meniscus. Oh well, no loss. At least I have money"

When did I say it was a good time/thing for Rose to go down? I simply said that I don't feel sorry for the guy. If you want to start feeling sorry for people, we need to start posting about those that are terminally ill, living in poverty, etc. Am I supposed to feel sorry for a guy worth 100+ million because his knee is falling apart when there are millions of kids in Africa who are born with AIDS and have no clean water/medical care/food?

I agree with this. I actually respect Joyner's empirical acumen, but it seems hypocritical, given that the two best players on his team's franchise have suffered injury scares over the past tto seasons and there is no apparent empathy.

Poido, I called you the worst poster on this board tonight in another thread, you drive me nuts, but I am sorry about your team and player, real talk.

This too, unfortunately.

I can just picture you foaming at the mouth while posting that. :oldlol:

Do you have a SINGLE post with LeBron not mentioned in it?

Truly sad that Rose is down again. I make fun of Rose for his "mental toughness" and play on the court, but his injuries have been a disappointment. Him being healthy is just better for the league and the EC. I hope he can pull a Ron Artest and come back in 2 weeks.

Oh, and Joyner HATES LeBron. He would probably celebrate if he went down with an injury.

I probably shouldn't assume he's a Lebron fan, but that is why I brought him up.

TBH, the injury is a death sentence to Rose mentally. For whatever reason, he finds it difficult to oevrcome injury setbacks. Don't get me wrong, he will train his ass off til he thinks he can, but yeah he struggles with the mental aspect and can you blame him...

Remember the guys saying he's soft and all that? rose has probably known his knees weren't holding up and now this proves that he wasn't healthy when he was taking games off, hesitant etc.

I'm expecting him to shut it down, but I would respect the hell out of him if he made a comeback for the playoffs. I might even cry again, as sad as that sounds.

Why not try the quicker treatment? Rose must realise now that he has one last shot. Those knees are done.

Thanks

I can't say I didn't expect it. When I found out the news on ESPN, I was loathing opening up ISH.

TBH, it was a big shock. He just came from playing a full game, I was thinking about how well we were coming along and finally having Rose for the playoffs and then...

I don't wish injury to any star player of any team. It's soul crushing.
