View Full Version : Wouldn't it be weird to see Atlanta or Toronto in the Finals?

I just realized that this is going to happen if the Cavs don't make it. How weird would that be? Small market teams with no superstar player on the roster, this would be a disaster for the NBA in terms of ratings.

I think the Cavs will make it. Raptors is a good team who got a good schedule on the beginning of the season and took advantage of it.
Hawks are a great team, extremely well coached but I think that the fact they don't have a superstar will hurt them in close games. Cavs has Lebron and Kyrie if they need a basket in crunch time.

Maybe they can face Memphis.

Yes, it would be interesting

IMO Raps have no chance.

Hawks have a legit shot at making the finals.
But I just can't see them beating a healthy Cavs team in a 7 game series.

Seeing the Hawks in the ECF would/will be AWESOME!!

It would be awesome it's always fun to see the underdog make it to Finals it doesn't happen very often if ever it be cool that not many were picking that team to go that far but did.

Let's be real. If Lebron isn't in the Finals no one is going to watch. The league is just lacking in marketable stars right now. Curry might be able to draw in enough viewers to avoid a complete ratings disaster, but if Cleveland and Golden State are eliminated before the Finals we might see the lowest rated Finals ever.

If Cleveland doesn't make it period we will see a very low rated Finals.

The only Finals series' that will have good ratings are...

Cavs vs Warriors
Cavs vs OKC
Cavs vs Spurs

Yup. No one watched cause everyone knew pre prime Lebron couldn't beat 3 HOF players by himself. If Cleveland doesn't make it this year the ratings will be much worse than 07, especially if the Spurs come out of the West. :lol

I think Cavs vs any Western team would have decent ratings, but match ups with the Thunder or Warriors would bring in the highest numbers no question.

I won't speak for Atlanta, but Toronto isn't a small market. The 3rd highest population amongst NBA teams and a sports driven fan base.

Look just outside of the Air Canada Centre during playoff games.

It could effect the ratings because outside of the U.S. and it probably won't include the Canadian market perhaps (could count for it seperately), but not because it's small and they aren't a lot of people watching. Bet your ass the majority of this country is watching the Raptors in the Finals.

And this year, nearly 10 million Canadian viewers were watching the Super Bowl, a new record.

How retarded do you have to be to think Toronto is a small market?

This. It should be obvious that there are A LOT of Raptor fans. I don't have too much faith in them making it far though. I'll be content with a competitive second round loss.

I would love that. Atlanta vs Memphis. 0.0 ratings. :lol

Realistically though it will be Cleveland vs Spurs or Thunder.
