To answer those handful of "What ever happened to Richard Hamilton?" questions I've seen pop up here or there over the past few seasons - apparently he was still technically active, but a foot injury in October officially pushed him out. An unceremonious exit, but a ballplayer certainly worth being remembered.

Yessir!

Here's the announcement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhhpDHp9od4

I honestly thought he retired like 4 years ago.He was just kind of in basketball purgatory. Not quite retired but for an intents and purposes, retired. He was apparently going to try to pick up with a squad this year before his foot injury took him down.

I swear I saw him in the NBAtv studio like a month ago.

Sucks that he couldn't retire in a more dignified way though. Pisstons couldn't sign him to a 10 day contract?

Love how some people are saying he has a case for the Hall of Fame. Yeah...right. I had honestly forget this dude even existed, he'll be completely forgotten in a few years if he hasn't been already. Career role player, who gives a fck

solid career.

never understood why he was such a subpar 3 point shooter most of his career when most of his attemps were long mid range shots.

Rip won a chip while starting on a team that didn't have a single superstar. Very commendable.

that team was still deep as shit tho. Rasheed was good enough to lead his Portland team into the playoffs for 5 years straight and was only traded to the Pistons to be their 3rd or 4th best player :confusedshrug:

Enjoyed him on the Pistons. His career felt pretty irrelevant outside of that team.

solid career.

never understood why he was such a subpar 3 point shooter most of his career when most of his attemps were long mid range shots. He was almost like Tim Duncan and his free throw fluctuations for a while. Hamilton went back and forth between high thirties and mid-twenties his first four years, then led the league at 46%, then was back down to 34% the next year (at which point it'd then be back at 44% the next year). Kind of a strange anti-trend.

he never shot that much from back there. 4 or 5 misses when someone shooting 130 attempts will show up more compared to someone shooting 400 shots from long range.

Ah yes he ended his career being the Bulls' great hope for a second option back in 2012 . But his finest hour was copying Michael Jordan's celebration after he hit a gamewinner against the Suns back in 02.

Don't care how deep they were. NO SUPERSTAR.

Rip coming off screens. He reminded me of Reggie in that regard. Think he said he watched a lot of footage on Reggie doing that. It showed. He was a pain to chase I'm sure.

One of my favorite players during the mid 2000s. (along with the rest of that Pistons team)

Loved those screens, the endless comparisons to Reggie Miller. That midrange game was beautiful. Officially a lost art.

I find some of Rip's more recent media appearances to be pretty enjoyable. He wasn't terrible as a Bull either.

Pierce, KG. Did Elton retire or is he still going? He played last year.
