No confirmation yet on what they will do i think they're deciding whether to partially remove or completely remove it. Whatever the case, its a 6 week timetable and then we get some rehab in and D rose will be back ppls:rockon:

he has nothing to lose man, his knee's just arn't built for this game. The bulls are ready to win now. Players like eric bledsoe have had 2 procedures on the same meniscus and not sat out the lengthy stretches that d rose has and come back fully healthy and been extremely effective.

I'm no doctor but if derrick wants a ring he gets his meniscus removed like d wade did in his college days.

Yeah a lot of surgeons and Bulls insiders close to the situation were tweeting/writing about it, apparently he was probably dealing with pain/discomfort all year, could be an explanation as to why he'd look as explosive as ever one game and then shoot nothing but dumbass 3s the next game. It's not uncommon for meniscus repairs to end up with more lingering effects and potentially another tear.

Apparently the procedure he's getting is really similar to what his own teammate Doug did earlier this year, trimming it and cleaning up the area. He came back in about 5 weeks, Derrick's timeline could be anywhere from 3-4 weeks at best case scenario, to like 8 weeks at worst. If all goes well he could come back with much less pain/discomfort than before, and less re-injury risk because obviously there wouldn't be much to re-injure. So short term it could actually be beneficial, and long-term while he would probably have some issues, they're saying it probably won't be as severe as someone like Wade because the tear itself is different and not as severe.

With the way the Bulls and Rose's camp have dealt with things in the past I'm not at all gonna bet on him coming back and killing it in the playoffs this year...but his return this year is a possibility.

I still don't see him coming back this year given his cautious approach with previous injury.

LiLharvard
02-26-2015, 08:31 PM
I think the decision to remove the meniscus is a sign the bulls are going all in and he'll be back on the court this year.

No point in removing a meniscus if he's gonna sit out the entire year:lol
Once the procedure is done he's gonna have life long effects mainly arthritis and cysts and so forth.. if they were going to sit him all year they would have repaired it again...... He's coming back book it.

Milbuck

There isn't much to be cautious about, that's the thing. He's not getting it repaired, they're removing part of it and cleaning it up. Assuming the procedure goes well there is no huge rehab process, there is no pain afterwards, and there is no risk of re-injuring it because there is nothing to re-injure. It's a small removal too, this is really not that serious. He could realistically feel better after this procedure than he did at any time this season before this injury.

He has to play this season, otherwise this would be utterly pointless and detrimental long-term.

I wish him the best and I hope the guy is pain free for the playoffs. At this point, he and the Bulls don't have much to lose. Even if you do have pain, suck it up and try to oblige your contract. Look yourself in the mirror and say "I really need to get off my ass and play... I had a chance the last two years to compete in the playoffs but I sat out.... each time I got injured in the regular season.... so.... maybe I'm just injury prone? If I can run and jump then I'm suiting up, period. It's now or never"

Derrick has to play. He owes it to me.

Seriously.

If the procedure goes well, and his timetable for return is firmly before the playoffs, he has to play. There should be no pain, discomfort, any of that, and the rehab is minimal. Dude could realistically kill it in the playoffs, but it all depends on how much he wants it.

I always remember that quote from D rose saying he wants to be able to play with his kids when he's older.

Well, get ready for lots of pain d rose .. you're gonna have chronic arthritis when you're in the 40s-50's and if you do choose to continue your nba career you'll be sitting out lots of games because of pain but it shouldn't be career limiting and his knee will as stable as ever.

He's gonna have arthritis anyway from the previous work on the knee. Pretty much all ACL and menisicus repair/removal have arthritis.

He's shown glimpses and if you've watched any of the bulls games this season you know he's still got that winning time about him. And those 2 really bad games could be attributed to the 3rd knee injury. Nobody in the bulls head office can pin point when he hurt his knee. Who could blame d rose for being apprehensive about Knee soreness ??? Poor guy was probably dreading getting an evaluation on it.

D rose is so mentally tough and a great person. Almost everybody in the bulls organisation can't speakly highly enough of him and his work ethic. I think removing the meniscus will be a blessing in disguise D.Rose just gotta remain hungry and keep working.

Like I said, it's been reported by surgeons close to the situation that he's probably been dealing with pain/discomfort all year. This procedure, removing part of the meniscus, gets rid of that pain/discomfort. If he comes back, he should feel way, way better.

His best chance at a championship is as a role player, even a bench player.
He will never be the player who could "lead a team to a title". Will never be the MVP player again.

Deserves it.

I cannot defend him for taking the long route again.

If he wants that championship bad enough as he says, he needs to get out there and play.

He owes the franchise here. Taking seasons off on that bigass contract and not even competing in the playoffs is weak.

At some point, he has to feel a level of responsibility here.

At this point if his body doesnt feel right he knows. Literally everyone is saying that Derek Rose will be back when he hasnt even had the surgery yet. It's like last year when they released the report that he was medically cleared to return. You dont do that. I think it's unneeded pressure. And they are doing it on purpose.

You're looking at it wrong, this quote is nothing but positive. They would never, never say something like that if the injury was severe or if there was clear doubt that he could play this year. They could just as easily have played dumb, done their usual "we'll see, no official timetable, decision hasn't been made, out indefinitely, etc" stuff..and they absolutely would have if the tear was serious and his odds of playing were low. But saying they're hoping he's back this year is a clear indicator that they know stuff we all don't, and that it's very encouraging info.

This is different. They're not repairing it. When you repair it, it's totally common for long lingering pain/discomfort, and eventual re-tearing. But when you get that damage removed, it removes the pain, and takes away that re-injury risk. He should feel way, way better from this, there shouldn't be the uncertainty that was there after his first repair.

I don't see him sitting out the Playoffs if they're just removing it. World Peace had his meniscus removed and he was back in the line-up after 12 days despite a 6 week timetable.

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/lakers/post/_/id/36349/metta-world-peace-details-his-recovery

MWP's injury was a lateral meniscus tear, but it's not that much different.

Rose could have it removed and be back just in time for the Playoffs or even earlier if he wanted to.

If surgery goes well, expect Rose to come back for the Playoffs and take a shit on Cleveland :oldlol:
Yeah and it's the same fggot ass Bran stans who were Heat "fans" last year and now are Cavs "fans". They know a healthy Bulls team is their biggest obstacle to the Finals so like beta fggots, they hope for injuries.

Last time the Bulls and Cavs met, a couple weeks ago, Rose took a shit on them. You want Rose to be injured, you're shook. If that wasn't the case, you wouldn't even bother to post here. Rose is in your head, fggot.
Cavs didn't give a shit about that game :confusedshrug:
