Saw this discussion on reddit and it got me thinking. He couldn't even make the all star game this season or stay healthy at all. His career seems to be in the gutter and ended in 2011. That being said does he make the HOF if the rest of his career stays medicore?

He will never make the HOF. Chances are soooooooo slim.

Yes unfortunately. Doesn't have enough team success to make it.

I think he will still make it, but we'll see i guess. I think he can return to 24/7 in the future. Would have had a stronger case if he had won the ncaa tournament.

He has 3 all-star selections, a MVP and a ROY. If he can make at least 2 more all-star teams he will get in.

He has a shot due to the weak criteria for the basketball hall of fame in relation to other sports. If his career ended today I don't think he would have a good shot but if he's able to pick up a few more all-star selections, maybe a finals appearance/ring (unlikely as a first, or even second option imo, it'd have to be as a role player/vet) he may be able to make it.

Gotta take into account his college ball and his International experience. He's getting in

No, or at least he shouldn't. He had only 2 elite seasons with no longevity to go with it. That isn't a hall of fame resume and would be an insult to other hall of famers if he got in. Yeah Bill Walton got in with only a few relevant seasons but he led his team to a title plus won a 2nd as a role player. His peak was also well above Rose's.

Let's wait until Roses' career has played out first.

if not for health issues Rose would easily have a Hall of Fame career.

I think its fair to make an assessment now. Let's not pretend that Rose can or will be an elite player again. Him adding 18 5 type seasons on bad efficiency aren't helping his case much.

At the end of the day, this. I don't think he deserves to get in now but the way he ends his career will define his chances.

As much as I've railed on Rose in the past and think him being gifted a MVP is a complete joke, you have to put him in the HOF. The HOF is also a museum of the history of the game. It just doesn't seem right to leave out a player who was awarded in MVP.
