View Full Version : Everyone is talking about Harden

Because how he is carrying the Rockets this season, basically EVERYONE ON ISH was talking about how the Rockets got worse in the off season, they fukkd, etc etc etc. "All they have is Dwight and Harden" etc, and some even predicting they won't make the playoffs (LOL) Gotta give credit where credit is due.
Main thing people are talking about Harden is his efficiency (talking about FT's, a lot of haters out there, always bringing up FT #'s, but like it or not, FT's are THE most efficient shot in the game) His offensive in general. But I think, his offense didn't really improve that much from previous seasons, it was always "there" but nikka just simply looked unmotivated most of the time. The 'killer instinct' 'mentality' aspect is SUCH a huge factor in any sport, in all of life, and obviously this nikka was on ISH and youtube during the off season watching everyone in the world clown on him and his defense.
I'd like to give Harden credit for his defense this season. I believe because his O is so insane, people are overlooking his D. Last night's game, you saw him hustling on D every damn play. He wants it. I have seen a lot of players improve vastly on their offensive game during the off season, but never have I seen a player improve this drastically on D in just one season. If, even though I doubt it, IF Dwight returns to even 80% of his 2009 Magic form, expect Houston to make some noise in the playoffs.
edit - as a fan of that loser Carmelo, I can't even imagine how good he would have been if he actually started trying and caring like Harden did. I swear, biggest waste of talent I've seen in the past 10 years that is not due to injury
Its not just Dwight he's missed.
Jones has missed 80% of the season. Beverley has missed 20 some games.
I have to give credit to the staff though.
They took Josh Smith who nobody wanted and turned him into a great player. They took DMo and turned him into a low post machine. Jones comes back from injury and its like he never missed a beat. The staff saw value in Brewer, they saw value in Prigioni.
The improvement on defense is all Harden wanting to win a title. Third in the league in steals, he had 3 more steals and 2 blocks last night, and his men (JR and Shump) were horrible.
But you're right, harden is the Houston rockets right now.

But but but but mcchale is the worstest coach ever
McHale is the worst coach ever. The front office is giving him a roster full of quality role players + a star in Harden.
Let's not act as if McHale is making our role players out-perform like Pops does with Spurs system players.

I've never said that.
Houston fans on CF give him shit all the time, but I think he's underrated. He makes in game switches. He makes pre game moves. People forget he hasn't been the coach of Houston for all that long, not to mention he's coaching guys nobody else wanted.
I think he's done a fantastic job over the last two years.

Quality role players... Like...
Smith? Who was waived by his old team. ISH tried to destroy Houston for picking him up. 'He's worthless' 'he's selfish' he's a cancer'. Dude has been a baller.
Or maybe... Brewer? Who's per 40 numbers have all jumped since arriving in Houston?
Or Lin? Who doesn't even play over Clarkson? Asik? One of my favorites but that dude is worthless.
Jones was trade bait at the deadline. Terry was washed up.
ISH tried to give Houston shit for the Ariza signing just a few months ago, now they're geniuses for picking him up because he forced Lebron into 15-35.
Beverley? Who was signed from the Ukraine? Which one of those guys, BEFORE coming to Houston, was a quality role player.
The answer is none of them.
People act like the bench is stacked now. Its not stacked. They're still as old as ever, but they play well together. Extremely well. That is 100% McHale.

I think people tend to think Mchale is a crap coach because the Rockets expectations were high in the past. Biggest reason is for him not playing Lin nearly as much as a lot of people wanted him to. There were more than a few games where Lin went off but Mchale kept benching him for some reason. I recall a game where Lin got a triple double in just 21 minutes of playing time and Mchale benched him, ISH wasn't too fond of that

Hated Harden for most of his career, but I'm giving him a pass because of what he's done so far this year. Dude's BALLIN on a very consistent basis now.
He might end up having a better career than both KD and Russ if he keeps this going. He finna win the MVP + scoring title this year, maybe Dwight back healthy for the POs and they can do some things. His clutch play has improved.

To me, he's the MVP as of right now. He did more with less than Curry. His Rockets have one of the best records in the WC. You take Harden away and the Rockets aren't that good. You take Curry away from GS and they are still a stacked team. Not taken anything away from Curry as he is special but my MVP votes goes to Harden.
