video from the young turks

basically 3 teens break into a house at night.

the man defends his family and shoots at them.

2 of the 3 survive with minor injuries, one of them dies.

the 2 survivors are charged with felony murder. (46 out of 50 US states have some version of felony murder, which is basically if anyone dies during the commission of a crime the person that committed the crime is held responsible for that death.)

one of the teens plea bargains and gets 45 years and snitches on his friends.
the other teen gets 55 years conviction on felony murder.

Basic argument for the felony murder laws:

1. if you rob a home and the person in the home has a heart attack even if you never attacked them or intended to do so, you are responsible for their death.

2. if you rob someone elderly and they run away from you and slip and fall and hit their head and die, even if you never attacked them you are responsible for their death.

3. you go carjack someones car and they drive away in a panic and plow through some innocent civilians. The deaths of the civilians will be held against the carjacker.

4. you rob a bank or another store, and the clerk or security guard shoots at you and an innocent person dies from that fire. You as the robber forced the clerk or security guard into using force against you and thus in 46 states you will be held responsible for that person's death.

etc

Personally I support the felony murder law.

Sounds racist.

I hate when stupid conservatives try and make criminals into the bad guys. Its just covert racism for the stupid racists that wanna be racist racists.
