So I have a series of original art paintings by Robert Hoppe that I am looking to sell and get a fair if not advantageous price for.
Does anyone know how to go about finding patrons of the arts that will buy a collection by Hoppe, an art deco master.
Here are some of the ones I have. they are all framed with gallery-industrial quality polished frames and have about five layers of mattings.

I studied art and attend edmany art shows and this advice is free so take it for what its worth.
First of all, I recommend hitting up your local art district and talk to a boutique about it. Don't know if you have that in your area.
You can also use the internet to your advantage and list it for sale. It will get a broader audience that your town or city's people will not know who the artist is.
Are those prints? Browsing ebay alone shows value of 1k and up for prints.
Is this original painting you have or print? If original, I am curious how you acquired it.

Like the above said, go find a respectable gallery/dealer in your area and seek their advice. Maybe even contact some auction houses if they are originals and suss out what they think. Don't lock in to anything until you've had a few opinions.

wow, that's a pretty big name artist and you own the originals to some of his most famous paintings...?!

I always expect them to reply "Your producer gave it to me before asking if I want to be on tv"

that's a good answer, altho i don't think all transactions are faked.
occam's razor-- if they're dealing with people actually selling items and they've been doing it for decades, they probably don't need to fake too much.
staging is different... something that typically happens to meet the needs of the venue and the nature of filming / production. they be staging all day.
actually the thing that bothers me the most is the somewhat canned nature of the conversations amongst the harrisons and chumlee. still a fun / interesting show, tho. :pimp:
From what I heard the transactions are real but the producers find the clients by browsing for sale ads for interesting items, contact them and go from there

They stage most of it. I originally thought like you and defended it but on a guitar site I frequent one of the members posted about being on the show and they approached him outside the store with an item, paid him $100 and then sent him in to sell the item with a pre determined back story. There was another story about a guitar being bought in to sell but the guy who bought it in was a known employee of the same store they had evaluate it and the guitar was still listed as for sale on the store that did the evaluation and told the pawn stars to buy it. Same thing with a pinball machine that the hall of fame did up which was actually owned by them.
I used to think it was just like a re shoot where someone who's bought in an item might agree on a price before hand but get told we will shoot it again and you haggle a bit but it seems to be totally faked at times which makes it hard to trust. Still better than hardcore pawn where they start arguments by being rude then act like their customers are scum bags

i'm fairly certain it's a mix of absolutely genuine transactions to lightly manipulated ones to outright fabrications... like with jesse from cowtown guitars and a couple of items from rick dales'.
i've read of about 5 - 6 different types of scenerios they use as transactions for the show, so to say "it's all this type" or "it's all another type" looks pretty off base to me.
not to mention, "staging" doesn't mean that the transaction is fake. IIRC the most common staging scenerio is when a person arrives with an interesting item and is asked to wait until closing time, then bring it back when the store is cleared and real cameras can be set up. the actual transactions last up to an hour and are then heavily cut down to a couple minutes.
i think a show like pawn stars can be tricky to dissect because there's a lot of factors that contribute that can swing all over the map.
but i've read some fun stories here and there... "chumlee is actually a genius playing the stooge" or "chumlee is a huge PITA and everyone who has to actually work at the store can't stand the asshole." :lol

Pretty sure you have a lithograph, but if it truly is original...here is a link to another one of Robert Hoppe's original paintings that is for sale. Should give you an idea what your's is worth.

My dad was supposed to sell them for his friend long ago and he dropped the ball so I'm taking up the duty and hopefully can get a little personal pay day out of it.
Do you have any certificate of authenticity, or are the signed by the artist?
Good points.. or numbered which would mean they were a run printed up off the original piece...
